We started at the nature center, where Dave, a very friendly volunteer, helped orient us and explained the evolution of the lagoon. He told us about a path we could take to reach the top of a hill, which afforded views of the lagoon and the ocean. We then started off on our walk. The trail is verey pleasant...lots of trees that offer shade and shelter birds, which make a joyful noise. The view from the top of the hill, as promised, was great. While you can hear freeway noise, this is a lovely retreat that allows you to experience nature in a peaceful setting.

We were looking for a one hour walk and found this one by recommendation of our hotel staff.
The parking was easy and free and the Lagoon Trail was really pretty.
All the trails were well marked and quite accessible. There are several entry points to the trail and the Gabbiano Lane Access point is handicapped accessible.
The total length of the Lagoon Trail is 1.66 miles.
We also walked up the Eucalyptus Trail which was more of a hike and took us up into hills with beautiful views.

Staying at La Costa and found this place while looking for a run. Beautiful at sunset. In the midst of manicured SoCal coastal suburbia, here's a little slice of nature.

This is a really pretty place to walk. We stayed at the Park Hyatt Aviara and it's right down the road. The best place to access it is in the parking lot of their golf course and anyone can park there. You can hike on it for about 1 hour and a half. It's a wide and flat trail and anyone can walk on it. It's a great place to watch birds and just get away from the hubbub of the local area. It's really quiet and relaxing and if you love to walk, this is an excellent option.
