We enjoyed staying in the Carlsbad Village area, we were able to dine at different restaurants each day and the shops were unique.

The Village really is pretty awesome. There are a lot of great places to eat and shop. Nice place to walk around with the family and hang out. Extremely clean and well kept up and a bock and half from the water. In May they have a massive street fair, which is worth hitting. It has to be the biggest street fair I have ever seen. Just a nice place to hang out and enjoy the beech and local sites. For the adults, there is some night life and even a winery with some good wines. Worth a trip for the day or weekend.

You don't know what you are missing. GREAT restaurants, beaches, shops, and friendly people. Small town feel with international ambiance!

Carlsbad Village is a lovely, pedestrian-friendly place, across from lovely, walkable beaches. The restaurants, boutique shops, and taverns can be jaw-droppingly expensive, and the Wednesday Farmers Market is equally trendy and pricey. Take time to look around, check other reviews, and talk to locals (most of whom are actually transplants from other states and countries), and you'll discover free or affordable places to visit (Gem Institute; Craftsmanship Museum, etc), and modestly-priced eateries.
It's very appealing for those who like to walk around, people-watch, and just enjoy the beauty of the area and its artists.

Carlsbad Village is full of little shops and several eateries. It's a nice respite from the beach to grab a bite to eat or get a coffee or smoothie.
