Where to start. The Cisco Kid was one of my favorite memories from when I was young. Rarely missed an episode. Poncho, his sidekick, was a likeable partner with a thick Mexican accent that was always jolly, a little childlike and managed to always get himself in a little trouble to spice up the show. Little did I know, when I visited Poncho's ranch that he was a well-educated, Mexican actor who was 70 without any accent and who owned a large ranch raising cattle and horses. He had a complete village built on his property with a large pool, a Cantina for his caballeros, a little separate home for his wife where she could get away from the larger hacienda. He entertained with large parties of business men and fellow actors. This place is well worth the trip and holds so much more of his life and family. You will not be disappointed if you visit.

Wow, it was unexpectedly breathtaking beautiful. We didn't anticipate 360 degrees panorama on San Diego Bay. You could easily spend two-three hours there.

The Leo Carrillo Ranch is a 27-acre canyon designated as a Historical National Landmark that was opened to the public in August 2003. The park contains the original historic structures and outbuildings associated with Leo Carrillo's residency at the park. Leo Carrillo was born in Los Angeles and he was an actor and preservationist. He is fondly remembered as Pancho, the sidekick to the Cisco Kid in a television series of the early 1950's. The park is connected to the citywide trails system via the 4-mile long Rancho Carrillo trail. The park is available for weddings, receptions, family reunions, fundraisers, and other special events. Don't miss!

I wanted to see this ranch since I love history & historical landmarks especially adobes. It was nice but I wish I could have come during a weekend to see the inside of the buildings. It was nice to see the outside but I feel that seeing the furniture inside etc tells a whole story. The people at the visiting center were extremely friendly. We loved the air conditioned informational movie on who Leo Carrillo was. The structures were pretty well kept. We also enjoyed seeing the peacocks throughout the ranch. I was ok, but wait to see it when you can get a tour inside instead. I think it might be worth more of your time!

Great walking for up to 4.5 miles with views of the ranch and all the very old facilities that Leo Carrillo stayed in and rebuilt. The city is also adding new features and enhancing the attractions like the clothing and guns that The Cisco Kid used during his movies he made throughout his career. Lot's of friendly peacocks waltzing around and making mating calls. Real fun day.
