“Great park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

Although we have visited Carlsbad many times, we never went the ranch before and it was quite a pleasant surprise. Wonderful grounds and learned a lot of history I never knew. Loved it!

“Feeling of nostalgia at the Flying LC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

As you drive to this historic ranch from the flower fields, you may wonder if you're headed in the right direction. Once past the residential neighborhood, turn in what looks like a traffic circle (across swim center) and park in the dirt lot.

Admission is free and be sure to take a map. On weekdays, tours are self-guided, grounds quiet, except for the cawing peafowl! The sounds of nature are everywhere, even on the tallest rooftops, so have a camera ready!

There's a taste of both old and new at the Flying LC Ranch...amid the old adobe buildings, barns and stables, you'll also come across a small sandy beach near the pool where Leo once entertained celebrities by hosting bbq's and rodeos. Can almost hear the guitars playing on a summer night!

Besides his film and stage career, learned a lot about his philanthropy work and his dedication to preserving other historical and natural sites throughout CA i.e. Olvera Street and the beautiful Anza-Borrego Desert.

If you love the romance of old Hollywood, this place sets the tone for those simple days....highly recommend, but closed Mondays!

“Peacocks!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

Leo Carrillo is a nice place to check out for an hour or so. You can walk the grounds and tour all of the old buildings. The views are very nice and the grounds well maintained. The ranch is a nice place to attend an event, and the peacocks live there year round and are really cool to see and hear.

What a great place to visit, there are so many peacocks wandering around to delight the children. So much history for the history buffs and so many great shots for the photographer. You can also get married here.
