“A home away from home!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2009

This trip was relaxing, entertaining and memomorable in every good way. It was too short in my opinion but every moment there me and my fiance enjoyed. check in was fast and very freindly, the staff was very informative about the area and extremely professional. The concierge provided excellent information about tours and exclusive offers. The activity staff provided us with really fun and clever family crafts and equiptment for our family days. They also helped us retrieve directions to local attractions and gave us th insider on local secrets on good beaches and great food. We attended sunset Margaritas, this was a great activity, both me and my fiance had a great time.
THE ROOMS: very clean, probably the cleanest rooms i have ever stayed in. The beds had new matresses with new bedding! all very comfy and all supporting the resort's eco freindly ways!
In the end, the stay was amazing. ALL of the staff was so freindly, it really made a difference. This resort was one of the bst i have ever been to and can not wait to go again! kudos to the staff at Seapointe!!!

We were treated like we lived there, a wonderful experience. I would recomend this resort to all my family and friends. (Actually I did just that) Our stay was great, but we lost a day due to scheduling mixups, but the rest of the stay was better than expected.

I would recommend this resort but feel it imperative to provide appropriate caveats before doing so. It is basically a good resort in a good location, but it isn't all peaches and cream. We stayed for a week on a time-share exchange and would probably do so again.

LOCATION: The Seapointe is wedged between the Pacific Coast Highway and the Amtrak rail line, with Interstate 5 and the Pacific Ocean not far away on opposite sides. The rail lines and the PCH are both very close to the property and it is not possible to ignore the noise from either. Both the ocean and the Interstate are just far enough away that you can hear the sound of either, but not distinctly. There is no beach directly across from the Resort. You cross PCH at a light that is a short walk from the Resort and end up at an entrance to a state park with a few dozen camping spots on the bluff overlooking the ocean. You can either walk into the park and descend the stairs to the ocean or walk about 250 yards north along PCH until you are essentially at sea level. The shore line in walkable at any but the highest tide, but there is no sandy beach upon which you can lie or play Frisbee. Such beaches are available by going about a mile in either direction.

Getting on the freeway is a breeze and there are plenty of places to go within a short drive. The major grocery store is a bit over a mile away so you need a car for most anything you want to do.

FACILITY: The Resort consists of six residential buildings and the activity center. The buildings are staggered such that the first, third, and fifth buildings are somewhat closer to the rail lines and the second, fourth, and sixth are somewhat closer to the ocean. The difference is about 60 feet so it isn't terribly significant, but I think every inch counts in this matter. There are three floors and it is impossible to see the ocean from the bottom floor. Thus, if a sea view is important, get a top floor room in one of the even numbered buildings.

We had a two bedroom unit that was pleasant and well furnished. The kitchen had everything we needed and the appliances worked well. The beds have just been replaced and are as good as any beds I have ever tried. A++. The furniture in the living room is not so hot, especially the lounge chair. Not at all comfortable. The patio chairs weren't very good either.

There is a secure parking garage under the buildings, but access to it is very difficult. There is a single elevator serving all the units and stairways at either end of the complex, probably about 200 yards apart. This results in a long walk followed by a long wait followed by a long walk to get from your unit to your car. Very poor design.

SERVICE: Check-in was seamless. We went to the welcome breakfast, but did little to take advantage of the various activities. They push the time-share stuff a little bit, but back off quickly when your eyes don't light up. The quality of the front desk personnel varied from very proficient to totally useless. We didn't have much to complain about but, on a couple of occasions, we took a small problem to the front desk. One staff member didn't even make a note of our request and we had to do so again.

BOTTOM LINE: It is not easy to find a resort so close to the ocean in Southern California so the minor inconveniences are probably worth enduring. Don't assume you are getting a solitude experience for your money. Carlsbad is a good location for visiting San Diego as well as the North County attractions.

The resort is beautiful and calming! The rooms are comfy and well laid out. The kid`s pool, waterpark and hot tub were well used by our children. We loved all the activities: strawberries and champagne, salsa and chips poolside, rootbeer floats, daily afternoon popcorn!!!, all day coffee, fabulous beach items for borrowing, crafts, welcome breakfast, and many more events than I have room to list! The front desk staff are friendly, delightful, detail oriented and ready to help at moments notice(and housekeeping too). When we checked in our room did not have an ocean view so we asked if it was possible to switch rooms. They checked into it and not possible on Sunday. On Monday, after a day at the beach and forgetting about our request, we got a call that a partial ocean view room was available for Tuesday so they assisted us with the switch while we were at SeaWorld. The beach is a short walk across the street so its perfect with the kids and didn`t get hte rental car full of sand. We can`t wait to get back there! Thanks to Joanna and the rest of the Seapointe staff for a wonderful stay!

Went with family, they are putting new beds in the rooms and the new beds are very nice. If you want an oceanfront room make sure you get there as soon as you can check in. They wont guarantee you a ocean view room, they just put it as a would like. Our son loved the pools, and everyone was friendly. Some of the rooms had cosmetic problems, some of the cabinets were chipped but we didn’t care. Staff was very helpful, and they have activities all the time.

this was our first time staying at this resort. We loved it !! The staff was friendly and helpful, the acess to the beach was an easy walk, the availibility of beach toys was great. the welcome breakfast was not to be missed, alot of good info about the programs offered and also info about the area, The full kitchen allowed us to eat in or go out. We did make use of their barbeque grills a couple of nights. (burgers one night and ribs the other) A grocery store was close and that helped to put a meal together. Overall I would recommend this resort to all my friends and hope to be able to return ourselves.

When we got there, they had champange and strawberries for all the new check-ins, and a harpis playing in the lobby, this was a very nice touch, and made feel very welcome. The staff was professional as usual, and the unit very clean. There are always great activities for the kids, although at one time the attendent disappeared while we were gluing the bird houses together. I noticed abit more sand in the childrens pool, guest coming back from the beach are not rinsing off as they should. Looking forward to our return next year.
