We used the Carlsbad Seapointe Resort as our home base to explore San Diego. It is a fairly easy 30 minutes drive to S.D. if you avoid rush hour. (A commuter train is also within walking distance of the resort.) Facility has been refurbished and was pristine for our visit -- January 2013. Though we did not participate in resort activities, the pools and hot tubs were a welcome relaxation after visiting the city. The condo was lovely and we cooked all our dinners there -- everything we needed was on hand and special requests were attended to promptly and with lots of smiles. The beach is across a fairly quiet four-lane road but still very accessible. I certainly have no hesitation in recommending this resort, and the town of Carlsbad looks interesting also.

Room Tip: If you get a chance, choose a condo unit on the third floor looking west with a corner balcony so yo...

We exchanged through DAE, and the exchange was great. We did not plan ahead as this was a last minute opportunity for a getaway. The resort is in pristine condition. All the staff are very pleasant people. Our two bedroom unit had all the comforts of home, minus our recliners!
The master bedroom was large & has private bath & powder area. The second bedroom has one twin and one full bed plus private entry to bath/shower. Full kitchen, laundry down the outside corridor.
The only issue worth mentioning was the whirlpool tub has a full enclosure for the shower & this was hard for us to get in/out , but not a deal breaker.

The daily fee is no surprise it is stated before you commit to the exchange.

The grounds are beautiful, the pools are heated and clean, the hot tubs were great!

We explored the beautiful beaches, and visited the zoo. The hotel staff set up a whale watching trip and a sail boat ride, both were good plus you received a discount through the activities desk.

A big plus was there was no pressure to take a time share tour.

Our visit was off season.
You will not be disappointed.

We have stayed at Seapointe in Jan. for 10 years. From the third floor the view of the ocean is unobstructed because one is looking over the coast highway and Carlsbad State Park. The beach is an easy walk across the highway. There is a Coaster (light rail) commuter stop about 2 blocks away in a residential area so one can get to downtown San Diego without driving. The beautiful pool and hot tub is always heated and even in Jan. I have had been able to enjoy swimming. The place has always looked good but the new outside paint job is especially attractive. Uncerground parking is accessed by evalator.

Room Tip: . Rooms ending -01 to -24 face west and have ocean view. Rooms ending -30 to -33 face north but are...

We had a wonderful time at Carlsbad Seapoint Resort. Our daughter was able to take the train down from L.A. to visit a few days. We visited the San Diago Zoo Safari Park. Torrey Pines
State Reserve had wonderful hikes with ocean views. Balboa Park was fun even in the rain.
The Self Realization Fellowship bookstore, meditation garden, and Temple were screen.

This resort is about 3.8 miles from downtown Carlsbad, but is more private and serene, than those in town. The grounds are small but there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. You can take the city bus to town if you need to get something. My room was not very big but Gary was very helpful and upgraded me to a larger room. The small room does not have any drawers for clothes and the closet is very very small and fitting luggage in that room would be a challenge. It is across a busy highway to the beach, this resort has a separate section for children and families. They serve a inexpensive breakfast a few days a week, but they do not have a restaurant nearby.

Room Tip: The third floor has a great view of the ocean, but you can still see it from 1 and 2.

We have stayed here several times and will continue to visit as often as we can. The resort is kept very clean and fresh, which is difficult to do being across from the ocean. Our room was newly renovated and the bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on.

There are lots of activities during the week. I enjoyed the complimentary champagne during check in and the complimentary sangrias during karaoke night. We happened to stay over NYE and it was colder than normal for the area. Because of that, we didn't do a lot of the outside activities, but do appreciate that there is so much to offer for outdoor recreation during warmer weather.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better view of sunsets.

Seapointe at Carlsbad is a beautiful facility directly across the road from the ocean.
The lobby is warm and welcoming- coffee and tea ready there 24/7. Our one bedroom was tastefully decorated with comfortable seating. Dining table with comfortable chairs, granite counter overlooking the full kitchen was perfect to sit with my computer (free wifi). The bedroom, with it's second very large TV, also had a sink and mirror while the huge bathroom, with jacuzzi tub and large, all glass shower allows two people to get ready at the same time. The outside balcony is perfect for having your morning coffee as you watch the waves roll in. The pools and jacuzzis are beautiful, the well-equipped fitness room and the sauna, all are beautifully cared for. Everything everywhere on the property is immaculate and shining. The staff is so warm and friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. We were there for a full seven days and it was one of the best vacations we've ever had. There is nothing we could complain about! We would recommend Seapointe to anyone, unreservedly.
