We stayed at the four seasons in late June for 5 days. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. However, we had children and requested that the pullout bed be pulled and out made every evening. We requested this at check in. Housekeeping did not do this unless we called and asked.

Front desk staff, when we mentioned this at check out was not helpful.

I think that the four seasons customer service is overall excellent. I would go back to four seasons, but not sure I'd do aviara.

This is a very nice Four Seasons Resort. Good service, good golf, tennis, great food, good service. Ranks up with the other Four Seasons, except for location. It just will never be Hawaii or Punta Mita - because it overlooks a lagoon. If you want to go unwind, without traveling too far, and you live in California it is a good choice. If you are from out of the state, try the Montage in Laguna Beach or the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. Both are on the beach, nice beaches.
One other thing, the kid's pool is dominated by toddlers - great if you are in that stage of your life, bad if you have a 8 year old and above. Great game room for the older kid crowd. Also there is a "tranquility pool" for the above 16 crowd.

I love this hotel. My husband brought me here for four nights in late June for my birthday. The rooms are serenely decorated in blues and greens. They have a sitting area with a sofa and coffee table. The beds are wonderfully comfortable with pillow top matresses, and the marble bath has dual vanities and a deep soaking tub. Our room was a panoramic view room on the fifth floor. That may have accounted for the quiet location and the beautiful views.

The common areas are lovely. We enjoyed sunning at their adult pool, both on the lounge chairs and then relaxing in a cabana. By the way, their cabanas cost nothing. It's first come, first serve. Usually we found one either at the adult or the family pool. Poolside service was second to none. You won't have trouble finding some one to get you drinks or lunch here. The drinks and the food are very good. The views from the adult pool are of the lagoon and wildlife preserve and they also afford a view of the ocean.

The lobby living area and longe becomes a place to relax, sip a drink and listen to a live performer at night. Very nice. We really enjoyed the musicians.

The food here is very good. We recommend "Argyle' for the best food and service. At 'The Bistro' and at 'Vivace', the food was good but the service was extremely slow. Room service was just okay. They tend to over cook their meat and especially eggs in the morning. They got our one dinner order wrong even after three tries. I want to say that I understand, because they were busy but I don't think that just because a hotel is busy, it excuses sloppy service.

The housekeeping was efficient and timely. They usually did a fairly good job. Despite tipping them, they, for some reason did not change out our hand towels, nor replenish shampoos, body wash and other essentials. We also had to call every night for bottled water, which is supposed to be supplied complimentary. But over all, none of this bothered us too much. We still had a great time. But because of the mildly irritating restaurant service, room and maid service, I can't rate the service as well as I wanted to. However, this would never stop me from coming back.

Having High Tea at this hotel is quite a treat, by the way. Everything is delicious and you dine with the sound of a harp playing. It is served right next to the lobby, overlooking the hotel's lovely grounds. In the lobby, complimentary strawberry lemonade and iced tea are always available. They have a self serve area, there from about 10:00 a.m. till night time. In the early a.m., they serve coffee.

The spa is one of the best experiences my husband and I have ever had. The relaxation solarium has the most comfortable chairs and ottomans you'll ever find. But the masseuses take the cake, here. They're fantastic! It'll be hard to leave once they're done.

I should mention that the fitness center was also very nice and came with plenty of what you need: t.v.s, cold towels, water with fruit in it, and a nice view.

The staff overall is tremendously helpful and friendly. The beauty and quality of this resort are a big draw. But the biggest asset that this resort seems to have, is that it makes you feel like you're welcome and wanted, always accomodating, always comfortable.

Apparently, the Four Seasons Aviara is a world-class golf resort. But none of us play golf and we had a great time anyway.

Like many Four Seasons resorts, it is great for a family -- especially one with little kids like our two daughters.

The staff was incredibly friendly. And the "standard" amenities provided for kids staying at a Four Seasons (cookies, stuffed animals, kid-sized bath robes and bath sponges spelling out the kids' names, etc.) make it as much a treat for the kids.

We upgraded to a one bedroom suite with a view of the ocean (yes, you can see it -- it's actually close by). And it's worth the money -- especially when you visit during the offseason and you can upgrade (if there's availability) when you arrive at the resort.

The couch pulled out to a comfy bed for the kids. They loved the big flat-screen tv (with an attached DVD player -- very cool).

The restaurants were great for all meals. We ate at all of them. But the one you go to for breakfast has a great kid's breakfast buffet that the kids got a real kick out of because they could go and serve themselves.

I also took the kids to high tea at the very nice lounge. The servers were really accomodating. My little girls beamed as they were served beverages in real china and got their own little trays of treats.

Note also that the resort is very close to Legoland and a relative breeze to the San Diego Zoo.

So the kids want to go back. And so do we.

I visited this property for a corporate function and spent the night.

I booked a standard room on the first floor (spa level). Room was well laid out, tastefully decorated, and well insulated against outside noise. Housekeeping did come offer turndown service. A bit surprised flatscreens were not standard in all rooms. Staff offered complementary hot chocolate in the lobby during the Christmas holiday. The game room offers a cosy respite with a mix of traditional and arcade games.

PROS: Understated California elegance without being gaudy. Efficient check-in and out, and prompt valet service. L'Occitane is the brand offered in the bathrooms.

CONS: Few if any. Hard to judge meals offered as our dining was a banquet service.

We booked a little "us" time at the Four Seasons while on a longer holiday visiting family a little further up the coast. All I can say is "wow" what a great property. We were only there for two days and a night, but we made full use of the services and facilities. The food in all the restaurants was excellent (although pricey), and the amenities were outstanding. In fact, we liked the spa facilities so much that we ended up using those instead of our own in-room shower! (I'm sure housekeeping raised an eyebrow at our relatively untouched bathroom!). The gym was great with lots of choice available, the spa changing room was heaven with a whirlpool, steam room, huge towels, robes, etc. It even had cucumber slices laid out as well as all the latest magazines.
The Aviara is a golf resort, mostly, and they do have what appeared to be wonderful kids' programs -- but we left ours with their aunt for a REAL holiday. In any event we got a game of tennis in, and, although the courts are rather far from the hotel itself, there is a shuttle both ways if you don't want to walk.
The Staff was very pleasant, courteous and gave us just the right amount of attention. They even had a nice fruit tray waiting for us with a note wishing us a happy anniversary in our room.

It was a very restful, albeit short, stay, and I would go back again in a heartbeat.

Stayed here with friends that were running the Rock n'Roll San Diego Marathon. Was amazing, really great service all around. Nice rooms, great bathrooms. We had a couple of rooms, and all had plasma TV's except one (which was funny)?

The Front Desk, Concierge and Door staff are great, friendly and outgoing. Always ready to lend a hand.

The Staff in California Bistro, was a little cold and the service during lunch was very slow. We had to wait for our table, even though 50% of the restaurant was empty, and we only ordered one course and it still took over an hour for lunch.

The Spa is really nice as well, great workout facility and relaxing atmosphere.
