“Great stay!”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

The Herold family has enjoyed their 2nd trip here and would like to come back in the future. The rooms are comfortable and we've slept well in their comfortable beds. The staff was wonderful when we'd moved rooms, as planned, when we were able to leave our luggage in the room for them to move all (including the contents of the refrigerator) to our new room when we were enjoying a day at SeaWorld. Our son enjoyed the movies when we relaxed each evening.

Thanks for a great stay again!

Karen, Mark, and Matthew

I have stayed here twice now and both times were a wonderful experience. If you want a fun getaway that has many options for entertainment, this in the spot. Not only is there a great view of the ocean but the staff members are very inviting and help to assure you have a great stay while here.

As Hilton Grand Vacation Club members we knew this resort would be under construction. When this resort is done it will be terrific. We were not at all distrubed by the construction. The resort called in advance to let us know about the construction, too.

We were very satisfied with our 3 bedroom/2 bath condo. The rooms were excellent and close to the 1 pool. We choose this resort because of the location next to Legoland and only 4 miles from the ocean. We had a private entrance to Legoland at the back of the park which enabled us to get on the rides in the back of the park first. The location is also great for any Southern California activity.

We arrived early and the front desk checked us in and took our bags. Our room was still being cleaned as we were 6 hours early. The bags were in our room when we returned from Legoland.

My only complaint was the lack of a washer/dryer in the condo unit. I used a shared one in the next Villa/building. It was free, but not as convenient as I am use to with a Hilton Grand Vacation Club property.

Room Tip: There is no need to ask for a room with a view of the ocean. The ocean is too far away and the golf...

As a long time HGVC owner, I've stayed in many of the HGVC properties. This was by far our worst experience.

On the positive side: the grounds, buildings, and rooms are attractive and well maintained; the pool and hot tub were clean; the rooms are reasonably appointed. The BBQ area was nice, and it is very convenient to Legoland with an entrance dedicated to the Marbrisa and Sheraton (next door) guests.

The cons:

We had a 2nd floor room diretly under one of the "Premier" rooms. The "Premier" rooms are hardwood flooring. It was like living under a herd of elephants, moving chairs around, at all hours. 3 different families used that unit during our stay. Each one had kids running around till well after midnight, sliding chars around, stomping, yelling, etc. We're not prudes, nor early birds, but it would be nice to enjoy a glass of wine or two, relax, and watch some TV at the end of the day without having to endure the noise. My wife and I, on separate evenings (after midnight) politely requested a little courtesy, to no avail. On our last night, we finally called security, which had to be dispatched from the other HGVC. It took two calls before they showed up.

Kids. Look, I get it - it's next to Legoland. My problem isn't really with the kids, but with the parents who let them run wild. Running around their rooms stomping and yelling after midnight, running around the pool, filling the hot tub. I've been to a lot of family oriented resorts, and the lack of courtesy/child managment I observed at this resort was far worse than I've previously experienced. 5,6,7 yerar olds don't belong in hot tubs, certainly not unsupervised.

The room: While overall the room was good, for a two bedroom that lists a max occupancy of 8, the LR would accomodate 4 on the sofa and chair. In the MBR, all of our clothes, and the bed cover, were always damp.

The pool: The pool area is nice, but it is very small for the number of rooms. This might suffice most of the time, but with temps climbining into the upper 80's during our stay, it got very crowded. While they are working on a new area with two much larger pools, it's a good 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the current buildings.

Room Tip: Don't get stuck in building 56 under the Premier rooms.

The rooms are spectacular. Beds the most comfortable I've slept in. We had a 1 BR and it was spacious, well equipped and nicely laid out. Did not use the pool as our children were at home but it looked wonderful. There were grills, fire pits and picnic areas in front of our room that many took advantage of. Legoland noise was not an issue for us.

We did visit as part of the Hilton Grand Vacations promotion so attended a presentation. They are great at what they do. Salespeople can be a bit aggressive. When we made it clear that we were not buying they did back off.

Legoland is next door so we used private entrance and free shopping pass for guests(entrance is at the Sheraton about 10 minute )

We would definitely return!

The park has a private entrance to Legoland, which helped us save on parking. Our room had everything that we needed to make ourselves feel at home from dishes, to a blender and toaster, to a playpen for our little one (at our request). The pool is beautiful, it's close to everything, the staff is so wonderful and helpful, our bed is comfy as can be and it looks clean and beautiful everywhere we have gone. I love it here and I'm going to be sad when it's time to leave :(

Room Tip: I studio worked well for my husband and I and our two small children, ask for walking level if you h...

if you're a Hilton timeshare owner maybe you know about the 30 days prior bookings for 'open season'. If not, here's the scoop. Aside from your points in Hilton Honors & besides your points to book hilton properties or swapping for RCi you can get 'open season' properties for a song 30 days prior to a trip you take. It is very inexpensive. I may be blowing it by putting this info out there because if everyone knows will it be available for us?

So, we have always been able to book a Carlsbad property when we've wanted it & where can you find a gorgeous 1 bedroom condo with an ocean view for $90.00 a night? That's what it costs for a 1 bedroom & it's about $120.00 for a 2 bedroom. For this, too, you can join the activities the Hilton sets up too which are great for kids. For example, today there was a BBQ lunch for $3.00 per person & there was a Wii sports game activity this morning my teen went too. The staff is good also about printing out directions &/or selling tickets to (for us) Lego Land - just a few steps away & a private entrance & to the San Diego Zoo. The pool & jacuzzi have been really fun & a teen can go on their own for a little while. The hotel is great too about keeping the pool for guests which we saw was overrun with locals crashing at some other area properties hence the wrist bands.

The property is gorgeous. The rooms are nicely decorated in a modern yet colorful style. The kitchen has everything you could need to cook meals/store meals. The rooms have a huge bathtub which is a nice soaking tub. We had a view of the golf course & the sea. The beds are very comfy including the sofa bed my teen son slept on & he usually hates those. Guess that's all folks. We recommend golfing on the public course on El Camino & tennis on the nearby public courts & of course, the Carlsbad beaches & cafes. If you like beer tasting there's the karl's Strauss restaurant nearby. Bye for now, sadly it's time to pack for home . . .
the Potters from No. CA

Room Tip: A golf course view is lovely & quiet.
