We had 28 people staying there for my 50th birthday party, everyone had a blast, the hotel staff is very easy going, the rooms are clean, the beach is across the street, we were able to bar-b-que or cook the food from inside our kitchens or you can walk across the parking lot to go to the restaurants or go a few streets over and there are alot of antique shops etc..The hotel grounds are so beautiful that it gives you a feeling of being in Hawaii without having to leave Calif. We plan on making a yearly trip with the whole family. It was my third time there and each time I enjoy it more. No car required as everything is within walking distance.

So, we'd hoped to go to Kauai this month for our anniversary but with the economy the way it is, we opted for a three-day weekend at a local resort. The Ocean Palms Beach Resort is right on a beautiful stretch of Tamarack Beach and was the next best thing to Hawaii. In fact, with the money we saved, who needs Hawaii?! We had an ocean view from our window and were lulled to sleep with the sound of the crashing waves. And even if you don't get an ocean view, the grounds are lush with tropical flowers, shrubs, and yes, large and even some intricately carved palm trees. The evening atmosphere was romantic and quiet sitting around the fire pits nestled among the palms. The staff, including Pookie and Pooh Bear, the resident Pomeranian's were friendly and efficient. And entertaining! And although it is "Pet Friendly", there was no sign a four-legged friend had ever inhabited our room. It appears they are fastidious about that. We were able to walk to stores, restaurants, the quaint Carlsbad Village and of course the beach!
We were so impressed, we will look into a week long retreat for our extended family in some of their two bedroom suites. I can't think of a better place to take our kids and grandkids for a great family get-away. My husband and I highly recommend this resort.

From check in to check out this is the place to stay for a true California beach experience. The 2 bdrm suite we shared with friends was so nicely appointed that it felt like home,.... but nicer. The knowledgeable staff pointed us in all the right directions for cocktails and meals. They were so right on about what we enjoyed. Crossing the small residential street to view ocean sunrises and sunsets couldn't have been easier. Thank you Ocean Palms for a memorable vacation!

We recently stayed there for 3 nights in the "luxury mini suite" and there was nothing luxurious about it. The room had obviously been remodeled, but it was poorly done and and amenities are severely lacking for the money that you pay. There was no shampoo, conditioner, or lotion available. Just one small round hand soap which had been partially opened when we arrived. I asked for some at the front desk and was told there was head-to-toe soap in the shower and if I really wanted shampoo/conditioner, they would sell me some. In reality, the "head-to-toe" soap was foam soap in a hand soap dispenser on the shower wall and was utterly useless for washing anything other than your hands...except it's in the shower! There was a nice, but small jacuzzi tub, which I didn't get to try, because again, the soap is in the shower. What are you supposed to use in the tub??? Then the shower had 3 shower heads (attempt at luxury), but only one drain, so after 2 minutes, you're wading in water. As for the rest of the room, it was small and there was NO CLOSET, only a closet rack in the middle of the room. The bed was old and squeaky. There was NO MAID SERVICE the first day, despite leaving the hanger on the door all day for the room to be cleaned. I had to specifically request maid service on the 2nd day. As for breakfast, they provided coffee with powdered creamer and a few oranges and brown bananas at the front desk. If there was anything here resembling a resort, I never found it. The place gets one star for the location and outdoor gardens/fire pits, but that was truly the only redeeming value of this place. For the rates that are charged, I would not recommend this place to anyone and will never return.

We stayed at the resort for over a month and had a great time. The people running the resort were friendly and helpful, the facilities were excellent and there were a number of other families staying there who have been coming back for years. The rooms were comfortable and any request that we made to the owners was quickly dealt with. It is in a great location, being very close to the beach and a lot of restaurants and shops.

I stayed at the Ocean Palms Beach Resort with my 12 year old daughter and her girl friend. We had a great experience at the hotel. First off, I couldn't help but notice how well maintained and clean the hotel grounds and rooms were. The property is full of beautiful palm trees with tiki carvings and very lush landscaping - it truly feels as if you are in Hawaii. The location was perfect! We walked everywhere - to the beach, restaurants and shopping. It was also very close to Legoland, and it only took 20 minutes to get to Seaworld. We enjoyed their pool and putting green, and I had a great workout in their little gym, equipped with everything. We purchased a two-day pass at Seaworld and plan on returning in October to stay at the Ocean Palm again.
