“Always Excellent”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

After a tough day shopping at the Premium Outlet stores across the street what better place to finish the day but at King's where the food is consistently good and the service is always friendly? There is always more on the plate than I can finish and my favorite remains the Wild Sockey Salmon at about $24 but if you don't mind farmed fish the Idaho trout for less than $18 is a good choice. Each comes with choice of two side dishes and either the garlic mashed potato or the standard baked potato can be nicely paired with sweet buttered corn, cole slaw or glazed carrots. Save room for the key lime pie which is an (almost) guilt free dessert. There is outside covered dining or inside air conditioned comfort. Generally not much wait time for a table.

“Better to drive to the Mission Valley location”
Reviewed August 29, 2012

I have been the the KFH in Mission Valley and in Rancho Cucamonga and both have been consistently excellent. The three times I visited this location, service was iffy and the food was well below par. The third time was the last time. I will drive to MV and go to that location in the future - they are worth it.

“Good food and service - solid 4-star restaurant”
Reviewed August 15, 2012 via mobile

I don't review chain restaurants much, but while in Carlsbad had the chance for dinner at King's and enjoyed our meal. They have good assortment of raw oysters which were good, several different salads - all sizes for that matter, I had the Caesar which was very good. For main course I had the linguine and clams in white wine sauce and it was enjoyable. Great sour dough bread with real butter. My wife had salad, chowder and ahi tuna and enjoyed her meal also. Nothing we had was spectacular, but good solid fare. I would definitely stop again if in the area. Plenty of seating both indoors and out. Friendly staff and servers who were very attentive.

“Awesome seafood”

Wonderful, fresh west coast seafood. We are from the east coast and loved the food. Atmosphere is casual but very nice. Prices reasonable.

“King's Fish House - Great Atmosphere, Location, Food”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

Just home from another great evening at King's Fish House in Carlsbad. We've been going there for about 8 years now, and have never once been disappointed in the food or service. The location is great - about half a mile from the beach, right across from the Carlsbad Factory Outlets. There's plenty of parking. They have a more formal dining side with an outside patio; there's also a great bar with less formal tables and booths and another outdoor eating area.
Their specialty is, of course, fresh fish and a large variety of sushi. They have a dozen or so fresh fish options nightly, prepared just about any way you like it, plus other options like coconut shrimp, a curry dish, shrimp & scallops skewers, etc.- it's really a huge menu. There is a nice variety of salads and side dishes - all the usual potatoes, coleslaw, mac & cheese, etc. plus a great sauteed fresh spinach. Everything is served with warm sourdough bread and butter. There are a few non-fish items, but we've never tried them. There's a full bar menu.

If we're not in the mood for a full meal, we have a cup of the clam chowder (the best we've had anywhere, including extensive travel in New England) and a Crunchy Lobster Roll. The roll is about 8 pieces, lobster and crisp fresh asparagus in the center, rice on the outside, then a thin coating of very fine crispy break crumbs - out of this world! The perfect grand finale is a shared order of their Bread Pudding. Neither of us thought we liked bread pudding, but had it served to us once for a birthday celebration, and we're now hooked. It's just the perfect texture and melts in your mouth,

Prices are moderate/high - 2 clam chowders, 2 lobster rolls, 1 bread pudding, 4 glasses of wine - about $70.
