Close to town and shops, right outside the door of the Venetian Motel where we stayed, no need for a car. Many restaurants, all good, fun shopping from fine clothes to beachwear, sandals, beach toys and surfing needs.

The Caution Tape was ugly, the end of the river area in front of the Venetian Hotel was so ugly - they need to do some updating / maintenance or they will loose their charm - felt harassed by all the firemen on the corners soliciting funds for MDA - they were in uniform, and were fairly aggressive - not sure it is appropriate for this kind of solicitation, lots of good charities out there that could use some money - using public safety to solicit for one particular one does not sit well with this traveler... just sayin'

This last time we visited there were signs stating that the water was contaminated and not safe for human contact. That doesn't seem so good.

It is a very good beach and has a good access from downtown of Capitola. You can seat in some restaurant in downtown and you almost on the beach. Only thing that could be improved is its cleanliness. It is because of this reason it looks a bit abandoned and less attractive.

We were staying up at Chaminade and really needed a beach fix. So we cabbed it over to Capitola - - a mere $20.00 away.

This is an adorably quaint beach town with lots of character. Lovely shops and a wonderful beach on which to stroll and climb over rocks. There is also a historic motel there from the 1920's that is a must stay.

There is also a rustic peer with a great little restaurant on the end of it. We had crab salad sandwiches - so yum!

We were there in March which was cool but sunny. I would go this time of year for less crowds and maximum fun!
