“Cozy Inn”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

Depot Hill Inn is a cozy bed and breakfast. Loved the location, quiet hill but only a short walk from the town and the beach. You can also take steps up the Depot Hill.
Lovely wine hour with good appetizers. At night some desert wine with chocolate was a nice touch. Room (we stayed at Stradford on Avon) had a very comfy bed and nice bathroom with two showers.
Breakfast was beautiful with fresh fruits, pancakes were a little dry, could've used a little less starchy meal, but I overhead the staff accommodating other guest with eggs.
I would highly recommend if you don't mind paying, but I think it was a good value.

I've been staying at this lovely bed and breakfast for many years. It is an old depot that has been renovated with unique creativity. Each room has a different country feel...french, english, japanese. It is upscale and everything is done to perfection. The breakfasts are THE most delicious I have EVER had. It is so romantic. Most rooms have both whirlpools and fireplaces. Bring you loved one and prepare to be spoiled.

Room Tip: The Japanese room is so lovely and quiet

Do we love this hotel?
YES!

Great comfortable and quirky rooms. Very clean, spotless in fact. We stayed in Rail Road Baron's room one of the themed rooms with its dark damask red walls and opulent furnishings. Not to everyone's taste but all the rooms are very different and cater for all.

The bathroom was stunning with a deep tub under a big sky light, grey marbled floor and tiles and a shower big enough for two.
The bed was so comfortable that we spent most of Sunday afternoon in our room.

The breakfast is delivered to your room at no extra charge and is a different set menu each day.

Wine and cheese nibbles of exceptional quality are served between 5 and 7pm.

It is set in a quiet location a top of the hill next to a defunct rail track. It was indeed a rail road depot hence the name.

There is an external jacuzzi which is set in a private area.
If you are looking for a romantic serene get away, look no further, this is your place.
Is it expensive? Well by British standards possibly, but not by US levels. This is a great hotel and there were two small faults:
1. TV didn't work.
2. Door handle of room came off
My one suggestion is that they get a better janitor. Apart from this it is excellent.

Very nice place to stay. Great ambiance. Bed was soft as a sponge. Staff very friendly. Breakfast & evening snacks are very high quality and ample.
On-site parking very convenient and grounds extremely clean.

We were looking forward to returning to the Inn as we have enjoyed being a guest there on several occasions. Upon checking in I was required to sign a document saying the rate I had obtained through an "on line" company was $50.00 more than what was being quoted for that room through their own on line reservations. I was told this was my penalty and they would always honor other website's rates. (This didn't address my having to acknowledge, in writing a rate that never seemed to exist on their own website!) Shortly after we checked in we were told their internet was being improved and not available. Later that evening when trying to check up on forest fires near home we discovered their TV was also not working!. When we asked for credit for the lacking services we were given a bill for our "pre paid" room because the city tax had been increased within the few weeks since our reservation.Days later the manager acknowledged their problems and offered a gift certificate to a local restaurant if we returned to stay at his hotel.

The inn is a quaint and charming bed and breakfast. The room offered everything we needed for a romantic stay. We had a hot tub and fireplace with our room. Each of the rooms have their own theme. In the morning a delicious breakfast was delivered to our room. The inn is a short distance from downtown and the ocean.. Would love to visit again

We've stayed at this beautiful inn half a dozen times in the last few years. If we are driving up to San Francisco or Sonoma we always find an excuse to mske an overnight stop at the Inn at Depot Hill. Every room is unique and each one is a jewel. We have tried most of them and love each of them for their own special qualities. The staff is young, friendly and eager to please, and the area is quiet and relaxing. Don't miss the chance to have either lunch or dinner at the Shadowbrook restaurant nearby. It is absolutely gorgeous. A bucolic wonderland. and when the staff at the inn make the reservations for you, you get special services, including a great table and an elaborate and delicious hors-d'œuvre on the house. Breakfast at the inn are excellent and there is always the 4:00 wine and munchie thing. Just writing this makes me wish I were there right now! Plus Capitola is one of the cutest funkiest towns on the west coast,

Room Tip: Loved 'em all
