We chose this hotel as we were looking for a night stay before our further trip to Koh Lanta. What we required was a good clean room with help to negotiate our further journey.

The hotel is modest and met our defined expectations. The breakfast in the morning was freshly prepared and served with lot of love and care.

The staff helped us to find vegetarian food at 10 pm, purchase mobile phone sim card and fix our taxi to Koh Lanta. One can rely on them.

I have been at Krabi and stayed one week @ KRABI PURA with my close friend and really enjoyed staying in this hotel very much. It’s a new exellent place, everything there is in very good condition e.g. air- condition, hot shower, cable TV, and bed. As read from other reviews, it’s totally agreed that this hotel is very clean and well maintained. The location is so good and convenience where is in the center of Krabi and close to the Krabi River. From the room; we saw Krabi River and Parallel mountains which are the symbols of Krabi and from the shared balcony facing to the river; we also enjoyed the sun raise and the sun set. It’s magnificent and colorful.

Atchara was very friendly and helpful. She gave a lot of information and showed us how to take the local bus to Ao Nang, Tiger Cave, and Shell Cemetery and recommended us what common and fair rates they should be. We feel like staying at my second home instead of at the hotel. During our stayed there, we bought two hours mangrove and fish farm tour by long tail boat, Four Islands hopping tour, Elephant Trekking tour and Kayaking tour at Hong Islands from Atchara. She helped us to arrange them after we told her about our plan in Krabi. Those tours were very fun and worth to go.

From beginning to end we were thoroughly looked after with excellent and frankly service. We had a very wonderful time and will come back here again in our next vacation to Krabi. This place is definitely recommended for everyone.

Thank you very much @Krabi Pura

We spent around 14 days AT KRABIPURA and we used it a base to travel around Koh Lanta, Phuket, and Krabi Province. The atmosphere was really special in that we were instantly welcomed by a warm family group who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The rooms were spotless - important for me as I really have a phobia about dirt, being a Virgo - , the beds are new and the pillows come in various sizes (my daughter wanted a smaller pillow which she got), the garden area was a lovely place for breakfast or for a coffee sitting on the old style wooden swing seat, and there was a large balconey which overlooks the river, park plus back garden to relax on.

Atchara went out of her way to help make our holiday plans happen; we wanted to take a bus to Phuket and she helped us get to the bus station, she booked a minivan to Koh Lanta and found a lovely quiet place there for us to stay, she helped us get to the Emerald Pool and booked a trip to Khao Sok National Park. Of course we also took time to explore the mangroves on a longtail boat. She also booked a pickup from the Krabi Airport for us. All email was quickly answered.

The night market in Krabi was a great food experience which we tried many times. Atchara helped us find vegetarian meals or some dishes which were not too spicy. She's a local Krabi gal so knows where the best places to visit, eat, shop, buy fresh cashew nuts etc. etc. If she doesn't know then her Mother and Father were always around to help. It was rather nice to have a mix of age groups staying and working - both the staff and the guests are from young to "more mature".

Quickly we felt part of the family. As another poster said it's so much nicer than staying in a hotel. We also heard the dance music but it didn't bother us too much; one morning we took a walk along the mangroves so it was nice to have a wake-up call. Other than that we just rolled over, delighting in the idea that we weren't out there actually dancing along to the tunes!

We felt that we experienced true Thai hospitality, much better than in a 5 star hotel. This little boutique guesthouse was the highlight of our five week trip to Southern Thailand. We will certainly be coming back to@KrabiPura

This is a fine hotel by Thai standards in many regards. The rooms are small but very clean with crisp sheets and a comfortable environement that is centrally located in Krabi.

There is Internet service on the ground floor and the staff is very helpful and service oriented. Also, they provided a decent breakfast and went out of their way to assist with special dietary needs.

One reviewer mentioned an aerobics class that takes place in the mornings in the parking lot next door. I also experienced the "pleasure" of this class. To me, it was the dealbreaker on an otherwise fine experience. It is SO very loud and at such an early hour, truly made for a disruptive stay.

Unless the staff can do something about getting the class moved to another location, I think they will turn off a lot of guests.

An excellent hotel just down the road, on the river, and cheaper is the Krabi River Hotel.

We stayed four days at Krabi Pura and enjoyed it very much. It is spotlessly clean, no shoes allowed. We liked our room with a nice view of the river. Be forewarned, the aerobics class out in the parking lot might wake you up. It was stiill almost dark when the music started in the morning but it was part of the experience and another funny story to tell when we got home. Krabi Pura is a family run operation and everyone was friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the older couple. They were always ready to help you up the two stairs into the lobby or to hail a songtaew. This is the sort of thing that makes us prefer a guesthouse to an hotel any day. Krabi Pura is centrally located to Krabi town and restaurants and the night market.

We booked this hotel after reading the good reviews and we were not disappointed. Stayed for 3 nights on early Nov 2008.

1. Location - strategically located in the middle of Krabi Town with easy accessibility to food stalls, shops, banks (which offers exchange rate services) and piers for waterways transport.

Just 3 minutes walk round the left corner, you can find the night food bazaar on the way to the pier. Opposite to it, there is KO TUNG Restaurant which offers good and reasonably priced local seafood. If you fancy late supper, be sure to try "Roti" or pancake with assorted fruit flavours. There are many similar stalls but we prefer the one on the main road diagonally opposite the hotel (at the TMB Bank pavement). They sell good pancake and coffee there..

2. Room - superbly clean and cozy. We got a river view unit (Type A). From the window, on the right we can see the river and part of Krabi main road on the left. Room equipped with basic amenities but was a bit small in size especially the shower area. Lack of hanging space for clothings.

In the early mornings, you'll find a group of women doing aerobics - approx 7 am. Later, you find the neighbouring traffic police having their morning briefing on the yard. These events did not disturb us so no worries.

3. The hotel owner (Khun Atchara) was very helpful and she also arranges tour packages. We booked our Phang Nga Bay 1 day tour from her (booked ahead via email) and it was competitively priced too. She arranged that we are picked up from the hotel itself for the tour and we had an awesome time.

4. The hotel is very homely and clean, K.Atchara and her family members are friendly and had done a great job in maintaining the place spotless. If you have a chance to have breakfast there, they make good omelets.

Here are some travel tips :-

1. To Aonang Beach, you can catch a local pick-up ride that passes the hotel for 50 Baht / person from 6 am to 8 pm (non peak season) - 40 mins ride. However, returning from Aonang to Krabi, the pick-up will not pass the hotel but stops in the town centre (approx. 200 meters away from hotel) next to 7 - Eleven. If you do not like the squeeze, you can charter a private car/taxi for 350 - 400 Baht / car one way.

2. Railey Beach West, there are 2 alternatives either take a 20 mins longtail boat ride from Aonang Beach for 80 Baht / person. Or take a longtail boat directly from the pier behind the hotel from one of the boatman for 500 Baht per one way trip (45 mins ride) to Railey East beach then a 5 mins walk to the west. You need to bargain for the price !!!

All in all, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel and will certainly recommend to my friends.

p/s. you can buy varieties of postcards and magnetic souvenirs from the hotel and they also provide internet/email and laundry services.

My husband and I stayed at the Krabi Pura in September for 2 nights before heading to Ao Nang. We booked directly with the hotel via the internet. We also arranged for their airport transfer. We were met on arrival at the Krabi Airport and all our arrangements went smoothly.

This is a fabulous, friendly, family run hotel in Krabi Town. It is spotlessly clean (and I am very fussy)., the air con is great (nice and cold), the shower worked well and there was plenty of hot water. There is no fridge in the room but bottled water is provided. The song theow bus runs right past the door for an easy ride to Ao Nang. The owner, Atchara, is very knowledgable and will be able to help you with all your travel questions and bookings.

The early morning aerobics class is a sight and sound to see. The music is loud but the windows shut out the noise..it did not cause us any loss of sleep...it was an experience but isn't that what holidays are all about.

The night food market is just around the corner and there is delicious cheap food to be had...try the fried mussel pancakes..YUM..I looked for them at other places on our travels, found them once in Ao Nang but not as good as these.

The night before we left we had finished our books and Atchara's sister very kindly took us to and opened her second hand bookshop for us to exchange our books for new ones.

I would definately recommend you to stay at Krabi Pura if you want excellent value for money and friendly people. Don't tell too many people about it or we won't be able to get a room next year!!!
