We booked a one night stay at The Lanikai for a break from Tokyo summer for our family. We had booked one of the largest western style rooms which was quite expensive. The hotel is extremely dated. All areas need refurbishment. It appears as if the hotel is closing down and not being looked after at all. Cleanliness was very substandard with hair from previous guests in our basin and shower drains. The pool hadn't been cleaned and I had to skim out many bugs and debris. Service was minimal and no there are no lunch options which is especially hard when you have children - the hotel does not allow outside food to be brought in, however we did so out of necessity. The final straw was the spa / shower area of our room. The woodwork around the inside window (which looked into the bedroom) was rotted and termite invested...they were running everywhere. It was at this point that we decided to check-out. The only positive thing about our `stay' at the Lanikai was that we were not charged for the few hours we were there.
