I really loved this place. The hotel was recently redesigned and it looks really great - its stylish, cozy and comfortable. The location right on the hill is ideal and I loved the big ski room, with private ski locker and chill-out area playing ski movies. The rooms are a good size and feature these amazingly large windows with beautiful views which make you feel like you are outside. Don't miss the onsen which is perfect after a day of skiing,

If there is any room for improvement it would be breakfast. Lunches, dinner and the bar areas are really good but the the breakfast could be a bit better.

Overall highly recommended.

We are very happy with the hotel in regards to its location, comfort, services, cleaniness and its facilities. The staff are always ready to assist/serve with a smile and patience.
May be the management would consider supplying with compliments a few bottles of drinking water in the mini fridge and sachets of coffee and tea too. And some snacks like biscuits, nuts etc at a nominal charge.
It is also great and convenient to have Wifi throughout the hotel.
The bar/lounge is well appointed and conveniently located with a warm and most welcome fireplace and an ever smiling and attentive bar tender

We were among the first guests to check in after the big renovation this year, and absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food great, and the lobby bar and lounge area felt like a family living room with the giant fireplace and cozy chairs. There was a fully stocked ski room with a locker for each guest room and brand new rental equipment, and the lifts were right outside the back door. Having the entire hotel wired with fast and free wifi was a nice touch as well. Our only regret was that we were too early in the season to experience the legendary Hokkaido powder.

For a ski lodge, Green Leaf ticks all the boxes; located conveniently next to 2 chair lifts (Morino-chair, and Banzai-chair) allows you to ‘ski-in-ski-out’, well equipped ski rental service, ski lockers, Viking (buffet) breakfast with good variety of food (but seems to run out by 830am?!), and a tranquil onsen (hot springs) to ease those aching skiing muscles.
The hotel obviously is well catered for ski seasons, because there are loads of rooms and huge dining hall; with size comes some compromise in service and quality, at times it feels like we’re in a college dormitory. Rooms are a tad old, but nevertheless tidy; service is friendly but minimal English is spoken.
Overall, Green Leaf fits the bill for those who just came to Niseko to ski (the ‘ski-in-ski-out’ is very attractive), offers the basics adequately, and is reasonably priced. Lastly, since it is not located at Hirafu (10min drive away), you can enjoy a bit of peace and quiet after a day of skiing.

The hotel location was fantastic, you literally walk out the door in the morning and your on a ski lift. The snow there was awesome and the slopes were pretty much empty the whole time we were there... the most you'd wait for a ski lift would be about 5 minutes if that.

The hotel itself was pretty basic considering what we were paying for the stay. My partner fell ill with food poisoning the second night we were there, which wasn't good. It definitely put a bad vibe on the food situation for the rest of the stay.

The rooms themselves are quite small... and had no english speaking TV... which became quite frustrating when you were trying to kill a bit of time at night.

The hotel is located about 30 minutes away from Hirafu, where most of the action is. If you are a young traveller definitely look at staying at Hirafu, as there is a decent night life there. If you are a family then Higashiyama is definitely a good option... just bring your own entertainment for when you're not on the slopes!

When it comes to ski lodging in Japan, I think I can say I've experienced it all, whether it be hostels with no plumbing, to log cabins with signs telling you how to kill the bugs inside... looking at it this way, Prince Higashiyama is definitely high on the list.

ROOM: Hotel room was surprisingly large, some type of view is probably guaranteed in all rooms give the location. Shower was quite awesome, very strong water pressure and good (hot!)temperature. Sink was separate from toilet/bath which was useful. Small mini-fridge. TV with built in VHS (!!) says something about the state of technology. Overall, not much to complain about.

HOTEL GROUNDS: Fairly large property for Japanese standards; When we arrived there was a live chamber concert happening at the lobby cafe. The hotel "bar" had some fun things to do (chess, pool, free internet) but limited drink options. Hotel breakfast buffet was decent, big selection but definitely get there early and reserve your seat as it gets insanely crowded after 7:30am or so. Try and find a rate with breakfast included as it is ridiculously expensive if you pay yourself (something like 4200yen!). On-grounds Seijo-Ishii was a nice surprise, good for picking up some water, beer, and snacks. Onsen available, fairly large size as well. All in all, plenty of restaurant options, though still might be lacking if you are looking for quality Western meals.

SKI FACILITIES: Connected to the Niseko Gondola @ Higashiyama... though be prepared for a brisk walk/hike if you want to go to Hirafu from the top. Also connected to a chairlift for a bunny run, though u could connect to others going up top if/when the gondola's not running. Friend rented skis, process was easy. Lockerroom VERY useful. Truly a slopeside, ski-in ski-out experience.

FYI if you're at the bottom of Hirafu (Niseko Alpen Hotel) and want to get back to the hotel via ski/board, plan on anywhere between 40min-1hr depending on your skill... or you could take the shuttle.

There were signs saying that it's supposed to be turned into a Hilton in Summer 08. If that means more restaurant options, I'm all for it, but it'd be a bummer if they decide to raise prices...
