Nice Japanese rooms that are well equipped and comfortable. Several Onsens are available with one particularly good one that swaps daily between male and female. The mixed Rotenboro which you have to reserve and pay extra for is a long climb to what was a great disappointment. It was rather like a large bath in a Garden Shed. Would have been lovely if it had been outside under the stars.
Meals were mostly very good to excellent with lots of interesting things. Local delicacies include raw horse meat. Restaurant Staff were a little hard pushed to manage the number of guests, but it worked in the end.
Hotel is a long way out of Tsumago but shuttle bus is provided to Tsumago, Nagiso Station and Magome. The old post towns are well worth a visit, but best to choose a time when less tourists are around.
Welcome is good and there is very much a want to make guests comfortable. Wi-Fi is limited to the lounge area and very slow.
