We had our wonderful Honeymoon in Bhutan in Early November, wonderful clear blue skies, sunshine blazing and a total treat staying in a villa at the Uma Paro.

We were so thrilled when we arrived and were given a wonderful welcome with a fabulous gingery tea and then were shown to our villa, we were shrieking with delight at the size and beauty of all the rooms.. We were very lucky to have a great guide Karma, who looked after us wonderfully every day on our Himalayan explorer package, he was laidback, funny, interesting and informative, he was also happy to indulge our new found love for archery and darts every afternoon.
Our Butler Karmal was fantastic too, and we were looked after beautifully.
Food was wonderful, had a fantastic massage and facial, went swimming lots, husband had a hot stone bath which he loved (I couldn't as am pregnant but would have loved to have tried it) and husband had his first yoga class, after asking beforehand "is Yoga really silly?", he was soon put in his place after quite an energetic class.. he he. All in all, we had really loved our choice of honeymooning in Bhutan, it was a real delight in every way.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to a villa

The Uma Paro combines a meditative quality with ultimate pampering. The wellness center features excellent spa services, and the traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath is soothing and delightful! The restaurant is first class and the food is 5 star! Our waiter, Garab and Pema attended to our every request with a smile and good humor. The general manager, Norman, is a congenial host who makes a point of meeting and greeting the guests. The grounds and surroundings are secluded and the views from our room were stunning. I loved visiting Bhutan and the charming Uma Paro was the perfect place to stay after a day of exploring this amazing country.

I stayed at Uma Paro hotel for 5 nights, the hotel is amazing and it's remote location was just what I needed, as the purpose of my trip was to relax and just be.
I was greeted at the airport by the hotel's driver & and the check in at the hotel was smooth and the staff were really attentive during my entire stay, especially the Manager Mr. Norman, he would check the guests & make sure that they are happy and well taken care of.
The spa at the hotel was fabulous, there are wide range of treatments, and they offer daily complementary yoga sessions for the guests.
The hotel's surrounding is breathtaking and you can go for a walk around the hotel itself.
The food in Bukhara, the only Resturant in the hotel was good, but the choices of the menu are limited, so are the choices of the complementary breakfast. I think they should work on that to make sure that the guests have more options.
One more thing I would like to suggest is to provide different kind of pillows in the room, cause the pillows they had were really soft and uncomfortable.
Overall my stay at Uma Paro was unforgettable and if I ever visit Paro again I will for sure stay at this charming hotel.

I stayed almost a week in this wonderful place, and I could not fault any aspect of my experience here.
All the staff i encountered expressed genuine smiles, friendliness and would go out of their way to help me if needed. An especial shout out from Australia to Yuti, Kamahl and Jingme!
The environment itself is spectacular: on a clear day, one can see the entire Paro Valley, as well as some major dzongs on the neighboring hillsides (fantastic light hiking will actually get you there too!). On misty mornings, the mist has a haunting visual effect on the surrounding forest, and this scene emanates its own brooding beauty. All manner of bird calls can be heard in the early mornings, and the scent of the fresh pine forest air is a very refreshing alternative to the usual city smog.
Finally, THANK YOU to my fantastic, knowledgeable and energetic guide Singay, there will be experiences on the road/trail I will not forget in a hurry! (That cave at the base of Drakhapo: adrenalin..)

We spent 5 nights in this property in our first trip to Bhutan and our expectations at this Hotel were exceeded. We took their Himalayan Discovery package and it was very well organized with an excellent guide (Mr. Ugyen) and a very good driver (Mr. Jamyang). Both spoke an excellent English and they made sure we enjoy all our activities from the beginning up to the end.

Overall staff in the Hotel were simply outstanding most of the times and this is because we must say that the General Manager, Mr. Norman manages this property in a very professional way and he makes sure he talk to all his guests every night and if there is any issue he may try to solve it on the spot. We had been travelling often and many times at expensive properties that sometimes simply don't deliver, but this one makes sure you even forget how much you had to pay in the first place.

Food in the restaurant was very good every time we had a meal and this means 5 breakfasts and 5 dinners. Prices of wine and liquors were very high, but I guess this is normal in this country and also staying at such premium property.

We must also recognize the good job of the room attendants, especially the one we had in the evening (Sonam Choki). She always prepare the room for the evening without forgetting anything.

Although we cannot compare with other Hotels in Paro, we feel that it will be difficult to find a better choice if you want to stay in Paro.
