“First Dzong we visited after we landed.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

Nice introduction to the land because we get to march up the hill and work off some jet lag. The river in winter is still full of bird life. Nice to just unwind before you really throw yourself into the road trip.

“Worthwhile visiting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

We were fortunate that the day we wet through they were inaugurating/showing a new tanga, which occurs only in so many years. The Dzong itself is worth visiting, and it's located in the road from Paro towards Tiger Nest, so you can visit before climbing to the monastery.

“Fascinating”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2012

It was quite interesting. The artwork was great and the view from the dzong was nice too. However, one must also remember to either wear long sleeves or a shirt with a collar. If not, entry is denied.

“Beautiful dzong”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

Beautiful views of the dzong from Paro and the valley. The dzong itself is not as impressive as others in the country, but is still very interesting.

“Gorgeous grounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

It looks like it came right out of a painting. Its just beautiful from the outside. The monastery itself is similar to others we've seen but the stories about the different parts of it are pretty interesting. The king and queen's home is right in front of it. Just beautiful.
