Owner description: Buena Vista is a cattle raising Hacienda that changed part of its activity to dedicate itself to ecologic tourism in a rustic environment conserving the idiosyncrasy and culture of the zone. It is located 31kms from Liberia and it borders with the National Park Rincón de la Vieja. It has an area of approximately 2,000 acres, 1,400 of which are intended to regenerate the forest and where adventure activities take place, always protecting the environment. The remaining 600 acres are dedicated to cattle raising and the ranch produces the majority of the products that the Lodge consumes.

“SO much fun”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

This, by far, was the best excursion we have ever experience and was such a fantastic value. We were picked up at our condo near Tamarindo by Jason, who became our tour guide during the excursion. We did horseback riding, walked through the forest, over suspension bridges to a beautiful waterfall We then continued through the forest to the hot springs where we sat in a sauna, enjoyed a volcanic mud bath and then submerged in three different hot spring pools that varied in temperature. We were then escorted to the natural spring water slid. This was so much fun. We were then served a typical Costa Rican lunch, followed by 10 zip lines from 11 platforms through out the forest. Oh, what a day!

“Away from everything”
Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

We went here in the middle of our 3 week Costa Rica trip.

We (2 young couples) felt a little locked away from society. We already did all the activity types that where offered here.

The lodges are nice and clean but sober. The food is acceptable but nothing more. A big plus is The sunset bar that offers a great view and is open around Sunset.

“Very, very remote”
Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

During our round trip in Costa Rica we stayed in this accommodation. It is located about 40minutes offroad from the main road, which makes you more or less depended on the facilities located here. We had the lake view lodges, which have a nice view. The lake should be called a large pond, given the size. The path to the lodges where really slippery and unlit, quit dangerous in our opinion.
Te sunset bar gives a fantastic view over the area and on clear skies it is one of the more beautiful views we have seen.
Breakfast and diner buffet where fine; lots of traditional CR food.

“Great tour for a great price!”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

We took the mega combo tour at Buena Vista. Starting off, we decided to drive ourself so we wouldnt be rushed by transportation. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a tropical drink (starfruit juice, I believe,) which was amazing. After that, we were escorted around the corner to some lockers so that we could put our belongings and change if/when needed. Next stop- hike through the jungle to the ziplines. Great hike with beautiful scenery. once there, the guide shows you what to do and you then proceed to zipline over 10 ziplines. You also get to walk over a hanging bridge. After the ziplines, you hike back up (optional) for an awesome 1 mile long Water Slide. This was the fastest, most fun slide I've ever been on. Once at the bottom of the water slide, look into the canopy of the trees- this is when we saw and heard the howler monkeys. After the slide, we went down to the restaurant and had a nice lunch. The restaurant is pretty open so you can eat and still enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Once we were done with lunch, down to the horse stables to saddle up. After a quick tutorial, we took a nice horseback ride down to the hot springs. At the hotsprings, you have the option of doing the mud bath (which I highly recommend) and then you can relax in any of the natural hotsprings. It is so serene to relax in a hot spring, in the middle of the jungle in Costa Rica. Words can not describe just how beautiful it was!

“My guide was perfect!”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

My time at Buena Vista Lodge and Adventure was an amazing experience. My guide, Carlos Alberto Bello Suazo, from Costa Rica Green Life Tours, made the trip extra special. Saw some beautiful wildlife and experienced the Hot Spring, with steam room, volcanic mud, and the pools. The water was " Perfecto". I felt relaxed and rejuvenated from the experience. We enjoyed a local/ fresh food lunch( which was included ) that was excellent! Some animals that we saw along the way were...... a toucan, butterflies, and heard howler monkeys close by. Riding the horses in was entertaining. Carlos, taught me about Costa Rica, its people, its culture, the flora/fuana, and friendship. Buena Vista lives up to its name, by giving some of the best views in the world. I'm going back.
