We booked though the above mentioned tour guide and they were fantastic!! They picked us up in our hotel and it was just our party, we did not have to go with an entire huge group of people. Our tour guide, Eugene and driver Alex were top notch. We only wanted to zip line and go to mud bath/springs. So that is what we did! others had to wait for the entire group to zip or do the water slide. We were able to go at our pace and wait for no one.

Eugene was with us entire time and even went on the platform to take pictures of us zipping! He was also on hand to photograph us at the springs. Then he stopped at a souvenir place nearby in order for us to do some shopping. all in all a great day with a great guide. www.xplorecostarica.com

We visited with two families in August and had a fantastic time. The parents are in our late 40's to early 50's and somewhat adventure seekers and the kids are ages 5, 9, and 12. We signed up for the mega adventure tour and for $90 with the Tarzan swing it's a fantastic deal

The horseback ride was a blast and the horses are tame enough for the 9-year old to ride on her own over a fairly steep terrain. Thumps up here.

The hot springs were great and relaxing. Tip here - take the volcanic mud from the sides of the container as dipping your hands directly in the steaming mud can be a bit hot.

The water slide is the one area that does not bring 5 stars for everyone. The 4-year old was too small to ride by himself and was placed in the same inner tube as his dad. Because of the speed of the slide the child almost slid out, banging his head on the side, not a good thing. In this case the required helmet saved what could have been a very bad experience. Everyone else had a blast on the slide.

The extreme zip line was absolutely fantastic. All the kids including the 4 year old who went tandem with a staff member had a blast. The adults loved it as well. Staff was great and extremely helpful. Make sure you try the Tarzan swing, its a nice addition to an already great experience.

Overall this was a fantastic experience for everyone. The staff at every venue was extremely friendly and helpful. Traditional Costa Rican lunch was tasty and fresh. This is a must do if you get to the area.

This tour was perfect, we had a fantastic time with my wife and I (mid 40s) and our son (13 yrs). It only took 1 hour to get to from the beach area by Playa Coco, Hermosa & Panama. Mostly paved roads except the last 1/2 hour. We zip lined, water slide (400 meters long), hot spring, steam bath and mud bath. They also have hanging bridges if zip lines are not your thing. The water falls are there but it takes more time we didn't have. The price was $80 per person for all + lunch.

I did the Extreme Mega-Combo Tour - horseback riding, zipline, water slide, natural spring and mud bath - and it was all fantastic. The staff was great, the location helped get out of the heat for a day, and the views just spectacular. I could spend a year in that hot spring!

My wife and I just got back from our week in Costa Rica and we spent an entire day at Buena Vista Lodge and Adventure. We had researched (via TripAdvisor) prior to our trip and decided against booking with a tour guide company, we just booked directly with the Buena Vista Lodge. We had a rental car and drove ourselves from the Papagayo Bay area and it took us an easy hour and 10 minutes. It was easy to navigate the drive as there were really only 2 turns from Liberia! Although once you reach the gravel road, which is a few miles long, it is *very bumpy*, but our little sedan made it fine. As we approached the Lodge, we noticed about a hundred horses being hearded (sans a cowboy) up the drive to change pastures I guess. So we were surrounded by horses... which was entertaining and we got some great photos.
We chose to pay the extra $10 to do the Extreme Mega Combo Tour rather than just the Mega Combo tour. That $10 gave us MUCH longer ziplines, they were extremely high, and included a Tarzan swing a million feet in the air (so it seemed). I actually chickened out from the Tarzan swing once we reached the platform because of just how high it was and how big of a drop, but my wife loved the adrenaline rush. We started our day with the horseback riding and it lasted about 45 min- an hour. It was nice, pretty standard. We were pleased our horseback riding trip only included the 2 of us and our guide, so it was private! We had great, easy horses that knew the way by heart. We did off road a little and go down into some water and such. Once we reached the mud baths we lathered up and let it dry, then rinsed off and hit up the gorgeous hot springs. They really were beautiful with lovely landscaping and foliage. We ordered 2 pina coladas and relaxed in the hot springs (they had varying temperatures). Then took the tractor back up to the lodge to eat lunch. On our way up to the lodge, we happened upon a large family of spider monkeys playing in the jungle, it was so fun! They started throwing sticks at one of the guys trying to take a picture near their trees. The lunch was fabulous, they grow everything (or mostly everything) on their property, including the beef. They gave us the best "authentic" Costa Rican meal we had on our entire trip! Then we did the zip line tour and waterslide. The waterslide was super fast, I almost flipped my innertube twice and it gave me quite the adrenaline rush. Overall, after doing ziplining in 3 countries, this trip, with Buena Vista Lodge (and our very friendly and funny guide Gary) was by far the most adrenaline filled ziplining and had the most incredible views!!! I'll post pictures so you can see how high up we were! Oh, if you book directly with them, it is $90 a person, all inclusive of everything I mentioned, including lunch... or $80 if you do the more standard ziplines and no tarzan swing. We started our day with them at 9am and finished by about 2:30pm. They had changing rooms at each site and lockers available to store your stuff. The only thing that wasn't included in our $90 was the alcohol drinks at the hot springs, but at $6 a drink, for a lovely and stong drink, it was very reasonable! We loved our visit!
