“great escape”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

we stayed at the hotel midweek, nice gardens and ample room with a firm bed and nice pillows.
we dined at their restaurant. the appetizer of shrimp, scampi style, was overcooked. the beef tender and the prime rib were great. breakfast was ok. would do it again

Green Features: great that they have the environmentally friendly practices

We spent one night here on our way to LA. Very nice location and the rooms were very cosy and comfortable. Buffet Breakfast is very good with a good variety of food to cater for various tastes. Outdoor swimming pool and hot tub was very nice. Only real downside was that people under 21 are not allowed in the bar area after 9pm. We arrived at 9.30 and after freshening up we're looking forward to relaxing in the bar with a drink and snack but were unable to because of the ages of my daughter (19) and niece (12) so we were left to take some food back to our room.

This was a nice quiet location in Cambria but required a drive to everything... it is no where near the ocean and not walkable to downtown. We got a "double fireplace room with a view". There was NO 'view'... there were trees immediately outside our window and we couldn't see beyond them. I was expecting a quaint little place but it's HUGE... almost 1000 rooms if the room numbers are accurate. The room was large, clean and comfortable but nothing special.

The Wi-Fi did not work well in the room. We had 4 devices: 2 iPhones, and iPad and a computer. Only the computer was able to pick up their signal.

Breakfast was included and adequate. The usual buffet of cereals, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausages and some not very ripe fruit.... both days exactly the same.

There was nothing horribly wrong with the place but I probably would choose another place to try next time as there was nothing special about it either.

Cambria Pines Lodge features 152 rooms and suites located on 25 acres of Monterey pine forest and gardens. When we use the term "view," we are referencing either trees or gardens. We have recently upgraded our Wi-Fi capabilities and do not know why some of your devices could not pick up a signal. The vast majority of our guests do consider the Lodge to be a special place, which is why they return again and again to our unique little slice of paradise. We hope you will stay with us again sometime, too.

We stayed one night on our drive down to LA. The landscaped gardens in which this property sits are lovely and the room was of a good standard with everything you would expect - coffee making facilities, nice shower, iron, etc.

Cambria Pines Lodge is more of a holiday resort than a hotel, which wasn't really my cup of tea and you ended up feeling a bit lost in the crowd. However, it is in a convenient location for accessing the town centre which is a short walk down a hill or 2 minute drive away.

The restaurant seemed overpriced so we didn't eat there for dinner, however, we did have breakfast. This was somewhat of a disappointment - lots of fattening foods, dry and cold scrambled eggs and very little fruit. All in all this place is ok, but could be better.

I have stayed here several times. The suites are soooo worth the extra money! 2 fireplaces, a huge room, and a living room. Compared to the regular rooms, the suites are a bargain! And the buffet breakfast is awesome. Lots of choices, both hot and cold foods. Definitely enough to keep you full until dinner time.

We stayed one night at Cambria while doing our PCH drive from LA to SF. the decor and the furniture looked a little old but overall was a pleasant stay.

location was close to the main attractions - moonstone beach, and the scarecrow festival in town.

will recommend this place when visiting cambria

We had a superior room at the best Internet rate; actually we had booked the small suite, but got great advice from staff that the superior room was going to give us forest view and a little patio...and was newly renovated. So we gladly accepted that this was a 'pet-friendly' room and had no separate living-room. Everything was there: gas fireplace, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker (even though coffee and supplies were disappointing; as were the bathroom toiletries, and I think this is a bad method to save money since they add 'resort' to their name; you'd want to see some nice spa-type stuff in the bathroom instead of soap dispensers and you'd want some tea by the kitchenette). The bathroom had a fabulous walk-in shower and separate tub (very shallow though), plenty of towels, and the beds had very nice soft sheets. We did not care for the tempur-pedic mattresses and rather lumpy pillows, but that's just a preference matter. We loved the high, slanted ceiling that made the room look very airy and spacious. We also loved the grounds with the varied landscaping and beautiful tall trees. The only other minus besides the above was the breakfast. For a spa/resort type place it was seriously fattening offerings, and with one variation it was the same each day (we stayed two nights)...maybe this is generally a one-night place? Rather dry scrambled eggs, pork links, dry-looking home fried potatoes, biscuits with gravy one day, pancakes w/syrup the other day, some sliced somewhat juicy and sweet melon and orange wedges, coffee, milk, orange juice, frosted cereals, a bowl of some sort of fruit yogurt, toast, jam and homemade salsa. We didn't eat dinner here, but it seemed there were waiting lists, a good sign. The lounge with fireplace was a little disappointing in that it looked a bit drab in the day time and there was very limited seating near the fire place. They had a table with a bowl of salsa and chips and served coffee and alcohol. We decided that it was much cozier in our own room by the fireplace with some tea and cookies bought in the village. We would come back for a night, possibly bring our dogs and some yummy treats and foods in the fridge for all of us.
