“Quaint Place in a Super Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

This property is in Cambria, a cute little town near Hearst Castle. The property is right across the street from the beach on a little street with a few quaint motels, and some restaurants and houses. The rooms were large and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served, and it is a decent breakfast considering it is free. The breakfast room is tiny. On a nice day, you can also eat on the patio. My only complaint is that the lighting in the room and the bathroom was pretty dismal. I could barely see well enough in the morning to put on my make up. However, I love the location. There are walking paths right across the street at the beach and tide pools to explore. It is a wonderful area and a great place to stay if you are visiting Hearst Castle. I would definitely stay here again.

We have stayed at this property several times and will continue to go back. The location on Moonstone Beach Drive is a fabulous place to be. You can walk across the street to the beach access in several locations. There is also a boardwalk along the entire drive with benches to sit on and the resident squirrels who will pester you for nibbles. My husband and I even biked into town and over to the bluff area. We ended up out by the dog park and biked the additional 5 miles out and back to Linn's. The rooms here are up to date and clean. The bed is very comfortable. We enjoyed using the provided robes out to the hot tub. Breakfast was yummy, including hot scrambled eggs and sausage. Can't wait to return.

love the morning breakfast(although the room could have been bigger), the room was large and well appointed(we had a double queen) . the pillows and bed were comfortable. We lacked nothing. Nice front desk manners at check in(thanks for the cookies and coffee) and checkout. We have been at Moonstone before. Next time we're ditching the kids.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights -June 19-22- with our four month old puppy, Hugo. Room 129 beside the office and overlooking the car park was our room. It was a king size bedroom with a fireplace which we made use of as the evenings got quite chilly. We were very happy with our room which had all the usual bells and whistles. The complimentary breakfast had to be one of the best I have ever had- fresh croissants, pastries, eggs and sausages, waffles which you could make yourself, juices, fruit and a great selection of tea plus coffee. Most people enjoyed the lovely patio right outside as they breakfasted as we did with our pup. Ryan in the office was really helpful.

If you are looking for pet friendly in this gorgeous sea side village, I would recommend this BW Fireside Inn. Even pet free, it's a charm. It is located on the tram route which you can take into the East and West villages and which runs gratis during the summer season.

Being a Best Western, we didn't expect the hotel room to be so nice! The room was comfy and updated, complete with a fireplace. The location is perfect, as it is right on the Pacific Ocean. The trails/boardwalks nearby were scenic and lovely. The staff was extremely friendly. The continental breakfast was decent. The grounds had beautiful flowers. I believe this was one of the more affordable places to stay in Cambria, and I highly recommend it!

We had a view of the ocean from our patio where I sat and drank my morning coffee. The room was lovely and comfy. We got a great rate on the room since we arrived late which was very considerate of the staff. We walked to a nice grill for a late supper which was delicious. The boardwalk was just across a narrow road, and we walked around there after breakfast (included with the room). Then we spent several delightful hours combing the beach for moonstones and found three! So relaxing and beautiful, I recommend this hotel to everyone!

Stayed here just one night while taking the Hearst Castle tour. The outside is not particularly impressive, just a well maintained one story motel. Inside, the rooms are large, up to date and very clean, with a nice flat panel TV. The furnished soap, shampoo, hair conditioner, body lotion is of top quality and there is a small hair dryer. The only downside was the AC did not cool enough. The furnished breakfast buffet was as good as any I've sampled elsewhere. This is a completely Non Smoking property, so if you're a smoker, you have to go out to the street for your smoke.

There are several good restaurants nearby, I would recommend the Sea Chest Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant which is a couple of blocks south. They serve top quality seafood, but no meats of any kind. Also, it's a cash only place with an ATM inside the restaurant.

Room Tip: Each room has a tiny patio where you can have your coffee or drink and enjoy the ocean view.
