“beautiful ocean views”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

The views from our room were incredible. We were able to sit on the patio each day viewing the ocean, and then walk down to the beach/sand area within seconds. Absolutely beautiful daily views of the ocean/beach. Lots of seagulls next to our room; loved feeding them oyster crackers left over from our daily clam chowder.
I am from Cambria/Cayucos, so staying at San Simeon was a treat for me.
Not much else to do in San Simeon except go to Hearst Castle - which is totally worth the visit..If you haven;t been there, take any tour and you will be totally satisfied.
I loved the friendly atmosphere of Cambria. If you ever want to retire there, please be sure that you are a member of some national organization (Lions, Rotary, Masons,Elks...) and move your membership to their organization... because you will then fit in.). Otherwise,

Just a regular Best Western, but very clean, well run ( thanks Justin for the Foodie advise) and even if only six of the rooms face the ocean, it's still a beautiful setting.
For the price and location, recommended, just ask for an ocean view.

This was my first time in Cambria and I stayed here on the recommendations on Trip Advisor and I really liked it. CLean, very friendly staff, beautiful views and appeared somewhat newer (or remodeled) than alot of the others. SLept like a baby in their beds and pillows and ordered the pillows for my home! Parking right outside the room with great access to the trails along the beach. Would definitely recommend it!

Seems like every hotel on Moonstone Beach was charging roughly the same price for the same view, but I'm not sure this room quality justified the price here. The location was charming, and the property has obviously undergone a relatively recent renovation. The decor is very dark, golds and caramels and navy, which I wasn't expecting in a beachfront room. It was cozy though, especially with the gas fireplace.

I just wish the hotel had done a full renovation. The bathroom was only half-updated, with a newer vanity, granite countertop, and nice fixtures, but a dated floor, walls, and whirlpool bathtub. (Also, the whirpool looked a bit sketchy, so we didn't bother trying it.) I mean, if you're going to do something, shouldn't you do it right? At least the shower and hot water were great.

The room appeared super-clean at first, but after looking around a bit, I could see they hadn't vacuumed the very edges of the carpets recently. Where the carpet met the baseboards was definitely dusty.

My only other problem was the sleep experience. I so wanted to love the bed, especially because the linens and oversized down pillows were so cozy, but the mattress was old and sagging. So I ended up tossing and turning all night.

Otherwise, the view from the patio (we splurged for a beachfront room) was amazing, even though it was too chilly to sit out. Can't really say much for the breakfast since we didn't partake. Coffee, both in-room and in the breakfast area, was weak and unimpressive.

Although overall I liked our stay, I don't think I would choose to stay here again. It wasn't our first choice on Moonstone Beach, but we were traveling last-minute, so it was the best available property according to Tripadvisor.

Room Tip: Splurge on an oceanfront room if you choose to stay here. Otherwise, it's just a decent hotel. T...

My husband and I have made many trips to Cambria, and have always stayed somewhere on Moonstone Beach. (Why go to a beach community and not stay at - or near - the beach?)

Our favorite hotel so far is the Best Western Fireside Inn. It's newer than many of the hotels along Moonstone Beach Drive, and we recommend requesting one of the rooms that faces the ocean. At night the sound of the ocean is very soothing!

It's a short walk across the street to the boardwalk, which goes all along the beach. If the tide is out, there are several access points to get down to the beach.

There is a heated pool and jacuzzi, and a nice continental breakfast (7 a.m.-10 a.m.), including waffle makers.

The rooms are large, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Great experience! We will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the ocean.

After a long day on the motorcycle this was a real find. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was beautifully presented, spacious and spotlessly clean. The location was fantastic. What more could we ask for, except for a great breakfast, which was provided Will be the looking forward to revisiting in 2015 when we make our next visit to the USA. Hopefully it will still live up to its current high standards.

We love this hotel. The staff is always extremely kind and they are dog-friendly. On this particular trip, we needed to switch rooms due to our late booking. The staff was incredibly helpful in facilitating our move and made it as seamless as possible. Both rooms we had the pleasure of staying in were clean, modern and comfortable. We have stayed in a few other hotels along Moonstone, but this is far and away our favorite.
