“Newlyweds and Anniversaries”
Reviewed January 16, 2005

We arrived on a wet and windy day with four friends, to find the inn warm and inviting. The lights went out, but the fire glowed and the candles and lanterns came out. It seemed to enhance the ambience as we talked and ate hors d'oevres and drank wine.

We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary, and there was a 10-year couple and two sets of newlyweds, so this place is known for special occasions. And do they treat you special! The gourmet breakfasts were wonderful, and we slept soundly with the killer chocolate chip cookies in our tummies.

John and Ann are wonderful innkeepers and owners, and Brittney and Bentley the snauzers were welcoming and definitely a part of the crowd.

We felt very fortunate that the J Patrick House came up on our search for Cambria lodging. Not only were the rooms wonderful, but the hosts/Inn Keepers are wonderful people that truely care for your every enjoyment to be perfect!

My husband and I were due for a romantic weekend to ourselves, and we usually look for any chance to get out of LA, so this was the perfect meeting of requirements. While listening to the rain falling on the garden outside, we were able to cuddle by the fireplace in our room, enjoying some delicious chocolate chip cookies! It was the perfect place to stay, and, except for the big hill to get into town (!), was within easy access to the surroundings! Ann and John were warm hosts, and I loved the hosted wine hour in the afternoon!

This was a return trip for us. Same time, same place as last year. We truly enjoy the time away right after Christmas. The decorations are still up, but the pace is oh, so much slower and wonderful. It rained again. This time it was a real downpour. But we were ever so cozy in our room with the fire blazing in the fireplace. We love this time of the year. The only drawback is that we have yet to meet John and Ann. However, our needs are well taken care of by Syd. The guests (as last year) are a major part of the fun here. We met some great folks. Ironically, all of us were from Southern California. Don't miss the opportunity to mingle. These are folks just like yourselves. They like B&Bs and the sharing of information is great! If you have never been to a B&B, you will want to start here. It couldn't be more perfect! We have been going to B&Bs since 1977, when they were just getting off the ground in the U.S. I guess we're qualified to say that you will absolutely love The J. Patrick House. Truly a slice of heaven!!
