“Best Restaurant in Cambria”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

This small, intimate restaurant is big on gourmet food and excellent service. We went with another couple to celebrate both of our anniversaries and were more than surprised by the quality and creativity of the food and the great wine pairing. The guys had the Chef's Tasting Menu (too much food for the gals) along with the wine. Each course was well done and paired with uncommon wines . . . and at only $75 pp w/ wine it was a steal! We had red abalone (hard to find), soup or salad, ling cod, filet of wild boar and bananas foster. Service was attentive. We will return. Reservations are a must.

“Superb - must try!”
Reviewed August 3, 2014

This small restaurant has huge ambiance and excellent food! We went for my birthday dinner and everything from start to finish was exceptional. Make sure you have reservations as it's small and was full the whole time we were there. We had the prix fixe dinner, Chef's Tasting, with wine pairings at each course. Each one was delicious, cooked perfectly, and tasted wonderful. I would definitely recommend this. The chef came out and made his rounds, talking to all the guests and describing what he had done with many of the dishes. We started with the seared scallops which were cooked just right and delicious! That was followed by a filet also cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. Dessert was bananas foster - also delicious. The wine pairings were perfect with each course. And all this for only $55.00 per person. You can't go wrong. If we're ever back, I would definitely do this again.

“Tasty food, but huge portions”
Reviewed August 2, 2014

Madeline's is a nice, cozy restaurant with friendly, efficient servers. My partner and I went there for dinner, making a reservation first, as Madeline's is a popular restaurant. For an appetizer, I had a spinach, mushroom and gruyere tart with greens that was large enough for a main course, but very delicious. My partner liked the crawfish stuffed mushrooms, but couldn't taste the crawfish. I ordered the king salmon special with tarragon sauce and garlic mashed potatoes. The salmon filet was very fresh and the sauce a nice complement, but the filet was large enough for two. My partner liked his Louisiana gumbo with lobster, sausage, shrimp and scallions - a large bowl. For dessert, we split the bananas foster, which had very little rum and lots of melted ice cream when served. The huge portions at this restaurant, although very savory and wonderful, were overwhelming, and I would recommend that couples consider splitting every course. You'll save a fortune, too!

“Doesn't get better than this.”
Reviewed July 30, 2014

Fine dining, excellent atmosphere at sensible prices. Good for couple and families alike. Each dish has been thoughtfully prepared. This is certainly one to visit in cambria. Appetisers were excellent. The Californian halibut was cooked to perfection, delicately garnished and complimented by fresh vegetables and rice. Just perfect.
