We stayed here because of its close proximity to Hurst Castle. We arrived late after a long hot days drive. We were surprised that despite the hotel description on booking said AC in all rooms the best they could offer was an open window and small fan which left the room very hot. The room, as others have mentioned was a little tired for the price. We were also very surprised that since booking a rate with breakfast the hotel had discontinued this option but offered no reduction on the rate for retrospective service removal. It had a great location on the seafront with an excellent restaurant next door which we used for dinner. The hotel had some nice little touches like hot tubs and fire pit but they are all shut off at 10pm which brought to an end to enjoying the night sky and the seafront location into the night. Hotel staff very helpful suggesting breakfast alternatives but if we had been advised in advance the hotel had stopped offering the service we would have looked elsewhere.

Room 301, front of property looking out at the beach. People were friendly and wine/snacks in the evening are nice. BUT, the room is old, plain, tired, and grossly overpriced (paid over $800 for two nights). Moonstone Beach is not exactly upscale, but we saw several places that appeared to be much nicer than this one.

This hotel was a total disappointment. We paid about $350 for a room. We got a lumpy bed, bad pillows, and a roll away bed that was so bad you could feel the springs through the cushion. Their 'happy hour' consisted of cheap wine and cheese cubes. Amenities were minimal - no robes in the room, for instance. The lighting was minimal. The only good thing about it was that the room was clean. There must be far better places in Cambria.

Clean, comfortable, and well maintained lodging on Moonstone beach.
We had a pleasant 3-night stay. Wine and cheese daily 5-7pm, and fresh baked cookies every afternoon. There are 2 hot tubs upstairs.
Next door to the Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill which is convenient for dinner and one of the few choices at Moonstone Beach. Depending upon which way the wind is blowing, you might get subjected to the smell of their grill. If that's a problem, ask for a room on the opposite side of the hotel from the restaurant.
The website says "no pets" but they do have some pet friendly rooms. Be sure to note your preference when making your reservation.

Good things first: nice location with ocean view, clean and pleasant room, very nice receptionist. We arrived late and the woman working the desk pointed us to the wine and cheese (and salami) bar and told us she'd leave it open for a bit since we'd just arrived.

Not so good: The clock in our room was wrong and we could not reset it. Absolutely no guest guides with tips about the local amenities, area attractions or restaurants. Nada.

Mattresses are overly soft--perhaps because of the topper they use? and we slept quite hot. We are a married couple traveling with a teen and had the impression a pullout or rollaway was available in addition to the king bed. They did find us a cot, but it was very uncomfortable (per the teen) and they charged an extra $15 for it. By the time you add that and taxes, plus the fact there is no breakfast included (you can order a hot breakfast, but the order form includes NO prices!--again, we're left in the dark about what we're paying for), it feels like you're paying an awful lot for not much. We ended up eating at the bar & grill next door and it, too, was mediocre food at steep prices. If we stay in Cambria again, we'll go to a different place.
