We were told by friends of a quaint Bed and Breakfeast in the beautiful town of Cambria. Our friends stayed there earlier in the summer and said they couldn't wait to go back. My husband and I needed a little R & R so we booked a 2 night stay.

Eleanor was extremely helpful on the phone. She asked about our interests and dining preferences. She even helped me make a surprise reservation for a wonderful wine tour. They (the wine tour bus) picked us up at the B&B and took us to 3 wineries, then returned us back to the B & B.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Eleanor and her husband Bill. They were both so warm and welcoming. Eleanor showed us to our room. We booked the King Suite and everything was immaculate. The room was large and very comfortable. The private entrance was a big plus as we felt we could come and go as we please without disturbing the owners.

Later, we were invited to wine and cheese. The wonderful platter of cheese, grapes coupled with the wine was a perfect prelude to our dinner. Eleanor was kind enough to have a book in the room with several menus from local restaurants. We asked her to help us decide on a restaurant and she even offered to make the reservations for us. She always went above and beyond to make our stay pleasurable.

This is getting quite legnthy, but I haven't even described the best "surprises". We woke up the next morning to a tray set outside our door. It was filled with homeade breads and pasteries, along with juice and coffee. After going upstairs, we treated to Eleanors wonderful cooking. The homeade breakfeast was one of the best I've ever had (and I have been to many B&B's and 4 and 5 star hotels).

My husband and I felt so pampered and yet our privacy was never infringed upon. We will visit Her Castle again, very soon(we plan on going back for our anniversary). I just hope they aren't booked when I call to make my next reservation!!!!

We had the most fun here with these wonderful people. I have stayed in B & B's for years and this was by far my favorite stay. We woke up each morning to a tray at our door with coffee, tea, fruit and a muffin. Then we went upstairs for the most wonderful gourmet breakfast I have ever enjoyed anywhere.
From the minute we arrived, it was like being with old friends. Everything we needed was taken care of by our wonderful hosts. Dinner reservations were made for us. They took the time to help us plan our weekend, provided brochures and notebooks of "things to do" in the area. There were little "treats" in the room for us to enjoy. They kept the room stocked with water and made sure that eveything was perfect. They also had the nicest wine and cheese hour I have ever enjoyed at a B & B.
There are three rooms in the home for guests. Each one is immaculate and has it's own unique feel. All of them were cozy. The mattresses were so comfortable. We stayed in the queen which as a beautiful little garden patio that is shared with the suite bedroom. The suite is cute also. It has a living room, bedroom, bathroom, refrigerator, etc. The other bedroom is beautifully decorated with it''s own private balcony overlooking the forest. It is hard to decide which is our favorite. One thing for sure.......we will be going back soon.

I was recommended this Bed and Breakfast by a friend of mine, and so I went. It was WONDERFUL. I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast and been so pampered. From the moment we checked in, we felt like family. We had dinner with the guests in the room next to us, and had a great time. We even planned on comming up the same weekend again soon. The owner gave us plenty of information about the area, places to go, good restaurants, and even showed us some of her favorite spots to go relax and walk at the beach. She even made our resturant reservations for us. She went well out of her way to make us feel cared for and comfortable. We were given a tray of food at 7am in front of our door filled with coffee, tea, pasteries, and fruit. Once we got ready for the day, we went upstairs to a huge and delicious breakfast. We had such a great time, we are planning another trip early next year. The rooms are filled with unexpected little surprises that made the expience more enjoyable, things like candy, music, fresh flowers, chilled drinks, fresh cookies, bathrobes and slippers, satilite TV, telephone, and private entrances for each room. We enjoyed the private patio and views of the mountains from upstairs. It is also in a great location near the main road in Cambria and just a few minutes from the beach and from Hearst Castle. There is plenty of stuff to do, and it is somehow still very relaxing. If you get the chance to visit this B & B, difinately do so. It is the best.

We had an extremely unpleasant experience at Her Castle and would not recommend this B&B to anyone. Her Castle ruined our holiday weekend. We believe this B&B practices unethical business methods, misrepresentation, and false advertising. We were screamed at, ripped off, and slept in a basement/garage with a toilet in the bedroom.

The B&B is owned and operated by Eleanor and Bill Seavey. When we called to book the queen room after viewing the website, we spoke with Eleanor, who confirmed that the queen was available. Their website shows photos of each room. Their website, as well as every B&B website they are listed on, explicitly states that the B&B has only two rooms: (1) a king room and (2) a queen room.

We spoke to Eleanor 4 times on the phone prior to our stay. Each time she confirmed that we were staying in the queen room of the B&B. When we arrived, Eleanor took us right past the two B&B rooms and into a third room. We were victims of a scam. The queen room was already occupied. She had already booked the two B&B rooms with other guests, charged us full-price for a B&B room, and stuck us in a completely different room in her house that wasn't even part of the B&B. Instead of staying in the queen room that was advertised and promised to us, we stayed in what Bill later informed us was a converted garage.

The two real guest rooms, as photographed and advertised on the website, each had identical high ceilings, nice carpeting, matching bedroom furniture with nightstands and a chest of drawers, television with cable, private bathroom with full amenities, and private deck. Our room was a dump. It was some sort of converted storage space that looked, smelled, and felt like a cold, damp basement. Our room had claustrophobic, cramped low ceilings, industrial carpet nailed into the floor, no bedframe, no nightstands, no deck, half-used soaps and lotions, and no television. Worst of all, the bathroom did not have a door. The toilet was basically part of the bedroom, which created an awkward situation every time we had to use the facilities. Please try to envision your romantic weekend getaway while going #2 in front of your sweetheart. It was cold and damp inside. The room had a noisy refrigerator that we had to unplug in order to sleep because it vibrated so loudly. To add insult to injury, we didn't even have a television, but Eleanor reprimanded us for accidentally unplugging the other guests' Direct TV connection when unplugging our noisy refrigerator.

It was obvious that this room was not part of the B&B and that, having already booked the real guest rooms, Eleanor was trying to make money by cramming in extra guests over the Labor Day weekend. Not only is this deceitful and dishonest, it is illegal. False advertising is an act of deliberately misleading a potential client about a product, service or a company by reporting false or misrepresenting information in advertising or other promotional materials. False advertising is a type of fraud. Additionally, false statements or promises made by a seller of goods or services regarding the quality or nature of the product constitutes misrepresentation.

When my boyfriend politely informed Eleanor the next day that we were not 100% satisfied with our room, she was deceitful and manipulative. We made no mention or attempt to ask for our money back. We did not raise our voices. We did not complain to the other guests. However, she was argumentative and dishonest and refused to acknowledge that she had misrepresented the room or that we were staying in a room that was not actually part of the B&B. I don't know how she said that with a straight face. We almost busted up laughing when she said our room was actually bigger than the "real" queen room. Yes, garages and basements tend to be bigger than bedrooms, but that doesn't mean it's okay to cheat people into staying in your garage or basement. Her behavior was absolutely reprehensible. Later, Bill apologized that we had gotten a raw deal and offered to give us a partial refund. But Eleanor, who was eavesdropping from the upstairs balcony, screamed "ABSOLUTELY NOT! Not with that breakfast! Try finding a motel down the street for the same price!" Lady, people don't care about a free breakfast when you rip them off and cheat them out of hundreds of dollars. Bill looked miserable and apologized again and said he had to obey his wife's orders.

The other guests staying in the real B&B rooms had no idea what was going on and assumed we were all staying in the same accommodations. They would have been shocked if they could have seen our miserable room and heard Eleanor repeatedly lying and then shrieking at us. Be forewarned: you may think you booked a queen or a king room, but when you show up, you may be paying for something entirely different.

We had an amazing stay at Her Castle B&B. Eleanor and Bill Seavey are the owners and they CARE about their guests. They both go out of their way to make sure every detail of your stay with them in not overlooked.

The breakfast in the morning is to DIE FOR! SO much food you will not need to eat lunch. Ask for the french toast. It is the best you'll ever have. Even before breakfast you get a tray of coffee or tea tray brought to your room at whatever time you specify. NOW that is great service. Then in the afternoon they also have a wine and cheese hour. With local wine and great cheese and crackers.

They are very knowledgeable about the area and the local things that you should see and do. Eleanor made reservations for us at one of the local restaurants that was amazing. Thank you for the recommendations!

We stayed in the King room. It was so neat and clean and had really nice little touches. Fresh flowers, lotions and cream (Bath and Body works) in the bathroom. Great robes and slippers and the bathroom was very spacious. It has a great deck that you can sit out on and read the paper or listen to the birds and look at some great scenery.

We loved or stay and will be going back to Cambria soon and when we do, I hope they will have a room available for us. We would LOVE to come back and stay with Eleanor and Bill again.
