“Where not to eat in Cambria”
Reviewed October 16, 2008

This is in an area which prides itself on seafood, We ordered fried oysters which were greasy and overseasoned followed by sea food pasta which was clams mussels & shrimps & fish on linguini pasta. The sauce was reminicent of pot noodle with a strong aftertaste of monosodium glutinate, How you can ruin fresh ingredients is a mystery. Also have Americans not yet learned that "less is more" This would have satisfied at least 3 students hungry for pot noodles. The wine was OK but excluding drinks $70 for two very mediocre meals was more than rich. I have eaten excellent food in California. I think this chef should head back to burger king to find his or her true vocation.

“Not as good”
Reviewed September 23, 2008

We love Cambria and stay on Moonstone Beach. We usually eat here and the fish and chips were always to die for. This time, the fish was ???? no telling what it was. No flavor and very disappointing as I have recommended this to many people. The service was above average. I must say we arrived before the dinner crowd and ate inside because we don't like having the seagulls on our table. It was uncomfortably warm. We will try again next time, hope it is better.

“Awesome!”
Reviewed September 20, 2008

My mother and stepfather live in Cambria, and have so for over 20 years. My husband and I were married there, and we stayed in Cambria for our honeymoon. We went to Moonstone Rest. many times during our stay. We loved dining outside, and believe me...I am picky. The waitstaff was very friendly, and the food was great. (the drinks...awesome!) Just for anyone that visits Cambria, California....water is to be asked for.

Please respect water shortage, we are all in this together! Great place, thanks to the whole staff!

“Quaint, great view, good art, great service, OK food”
Reviewed September 18, 2008

We loved the place - the view, the sunset, the low lighting, the great service, the nice wine and the art gallery on the walls. For some reason, based on our B&B's recommendation (the highly recommended Trinidad Bay B&B), I thought it would be an old stuffy place but that was not the case - it was nicely decorated, very 'California coast' and was exactly what we were seeking that evening: a nice quiet place for dinner with atmosphere and a view. The food was not spectacular but with the very lovely evening they provided us we enjoyed the experience nonetheless.
