“We went twice”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

We are happy to join the chorus of positive reviews. After visiting for dinner we liked it so much we went back the next day for brunch. This meant going out of our way for brunch since we had started north to visit Hearst Castle for a morning tour before returning to the San Francisco area. We were happy to retrace our steps if that was needed to have another meal at Robin's.

We loved the varied menu, atmosphere and service. Food was served promptly, it was very tasty and fresh. The soup was outstanding. The flat iron steak at dinner was OK, but not quite as good as the other entrees.

“Disappointed”
Reviewed August 25, 2013 via mobile

We reserved on the basis of others reviewers positive comments. It was deeply average. Garlic bread - a massive hunk of bread vaguely redolent of garlic with with no butter, just dry. A minuscule belly of pork starter with the skin rubbery, not crispy. A stir fry you could easily whip up from leftovers and a sloppy paella with no hint of saffron and hunks of chorizo that were just dumped in without being browned off to release their lovely smokiness into the rice. We couldn't understand what all the fuss is about. The restaurant is dark and a bit of a style mish-mash, the service was pleasant if a bit sporadic and the menu jumps around all over the globe, making it hard to guess what if anything they are really good at. $200 but nothing really delicious.

An incredibly varied menu with lasagne alongside Indian, Thai and Malaysian curries. ambitious but they pull it off. Great service as well...friendly but not intrusive. Good atmosphere too.. 5 mains, 3 deserts, 1 bootle of wine, $163

“Decent food and buzzy atmosphere”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Robin’s came highly recommended but unfortunately we weren’t blown away. Our starters of crab samosas and calamari were both delicious and the calamari was tender and cooked perfectly. We both ordered flat iron steak for our mains and I was rather unimpressed. It was also expensive for what is a cheap cut of beef, although the meat was natural/organic. We’d skipped lunch that day so were able to fit in dessert. We chose the cheesecake and trio of desserts and thoroughly enjoyed every element.

The main course was a bit of a let-down, despite it being one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. I also felt that the prices were rather high for such an informal dining experience. Whilst our starters and desserts were great and we enjoyed the warm service and atmosphere, if I were to visit Cambria again, I would try another restaurant for dinner. I've rated this as very good as I feel that average is too harsh. However, good would be a far more accurate description.
