They were outside from 5pm, which is startlingly early, but the efficiency of the team once we were in at 5.30 was a joy to behold. Delicious food and way too much of it, but the doggie bag we left with will feed us tomorrow, so that's a bonus! Only in America!

My husband and I are regular vistors to Cambria. We live near Sacramento, California and have literally driven our Corvette down Highway 1 and back on the same day just to experience the Calamari dinner. (We are both in our 60's). We were aghast to read a recent negative review on the Calamari (to us, it is so great that we admit we have never strayed from that menu choice). That said, we feel that this dish at Sea Chest is the gold standard by which all Calamari must be measured. The Calamari is coated in Panko crumbs and then grilled to perfection. Calamari can be potentially somewhat tough but Sea Chest has a process for hand-tenderizing that is without parallel. We also find the included side dishes of fresh potatoes and fresh vegatables a delight and makes it a well balanced meal. The portions are extremely generous, and so we rarely make it to dessert; however, when we have found room the desserts were A+ as well. Interestingly, what prompts this review is our reading of a rather obtuse negative review wherein that writer admits being told that Sea Chest is one of best seafood restaurants in the county. We strongly believe that the information given was "spot on". Get there early as the line starts forming well in advance of opening, which should ratify the information that the negative critic was given rather than their unique assessment of Sea Chest. It's a place for great seafood and a wonderful view of Moonstone Beach.

The calamari appetizer is delicious, the halubut was perfectly grilled and very fresh. Good selection of oysters plus excellent oysters casino. Keep in mind this restaurant is cash only, no credit cards and no reservations. Be sure to arrive early to snag a window table overlooking Moonstone Beach. Join the line outside waiting for great seafood!

On our unplanned stop at Cambria, we were told that Sea Chest is the best seafood restaurant in the whole county........really hope that's not true!!! The service was good, the wine selection was excellent, but the food....one of the worst meals ever! I ordered scallops and my husband ordered calamari steak. My scallops were tasteless, gummy, without butter...not good. I can make better scallops and I don't cook. My husband's "lightly breaded calamari" might as well have been anything else deep fried....disgusting. The potatoes and pasta that accompanied our meals were not any better. To top it all off, we were given dirty silverware. We didn't even try desert.
