This is the place to stay in Cambria! From the moment you walk into the office area where you check in...you feel like you are at home. Everyone is SO nice, helpful and very genuine. I decided to get away for the weekend with my dog and this looked like the place to stay...and was I right!

Everything you need when staying in Cambria is found at this hotel. The beds are comfortable, the TV's are new...flat screen plasma's, the towels are thick and soft and added bonus of having a small fridge, coffee maker AND microwave was really nice. I really looked forward to my delivery of my Breakfast basket with great items in it to eat and save also to snack on during the day (apples/bananas). Not sure how I will adjust when I get home....

My dog and I really had a great time there....lots of folks were travelling with their dogs, and were guests as well. The only thing that folks need to keep in mind is that you have to drive to get to a beach that you can take your dog on....and even then they have to be leashed. That was the only downside, but Cayucos was 15 minutes south and on that beach most dogs were off leash. It is a cute town and it makes for a fun day trip....(great place to wear out your puppy so that they sleep well in a strange place!)

I can't wait to go back and have some more fun. The staff couldn't have been nicer and I will be sure to recommend this to my friends and family

We were planning on staying in Big Sur, but couldn't find any rooms there. Instead we drove on to Saint Simeon to find a bed for the night. On our arrival there we weren't very inspired by the group of motels on the side of a highway, so drove on the short distance to Cambria.

We had seen the Cambria Shores Inn in our Lonely Planet Guide and decided to see if they had a room available. From the moment we stepped into the reception, we were made to feel incredibly welcome by Tim who offered to show us the room before we took it. On seeing the room we were sold...if we weren't already by the welcome or maybe it was the complimentary canapes and home baked cookies, or even the promise of home made brownies. Tim offered to help us with a recommendation for dinner in the town and even booked our table for us.

The hotel is situated on the coast with beautiful views and walks right on your doorstep.

The room had been recently renovated and looked brand new. There were lovely touches making it feel very homely. Breakfast was served as promised in a wicker basket hung on a hook outside the door, so we were able to have breakfast in bed.

There was a beautifully put together guide to the hotel, including the facilities available for bringing your dog. We were slightly concerned that this may mean that we would be kept awake by barking or that the place would smell of dogs, but far from it.

There was also a large flat screen TV and a DVD player to watch one of the complimentary DVD library (more than 200 at the last count).

The town of Cambria is very quaint and a welcome break from the tourist traps. On our departure we drove up through the wine country which was gorgeous and a lovely end to our stay in Cambria.

If you are after a small, good value, quirky motel with freindly staff this is the one for you.

Wonderful Place to stay!! the people were very nice, and even though they take dogs there, I couldn't smell one oder or see one hair in the most updated beautiful rooms. The decor was beautiful, amenitys plentiful, and the most comfortable bed I stayed in up north on our vacation. The continental breakfast was fresh and really good. Nice touch having it delivered to your room. The coffee in the office at all times is a wonderful comfort as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone and will stay there the next time we are in Cambria

My family and I had been up in San Francisco for the weekend and decided to stay someplace between San Fran and the O.C where we live. We had our 2 year old Pomeranian traveling with us so the place had to be dog friendly, but we are super picky - so it had to be luxury still.

I found the hotel on a pet friendly dog website, called and was booked here in no time flat. The guy at the hotel was super friendly and totally welcoming. He gave me a discount rate even.

When we arrived we were simply amazed. The location is wonderful with ocean views and lots of chairs to sit and watch the water. Check in was great, they really pamper pups here.

Still the best part was the room - newly renovated and awesome. The beds were SO comfortable with fine linens and down comforters, automatic fireplace, flat screen tv, dvd player, a little kitchen nook with a mini fridge and microwave - the bathroom was also great, really big with a rain shower.

To top it all off in the a.m. we were treated to a breakfast basket at our door with fresh fruit, yummy muffins and juice.

We were only there for one night, but Cambria seems like such a neat, New England style town with tons of pet friendly restaurants and shops. We have booked our next stay for Labor Day weekend already and we are counting the days!

We were originally booked at the Fogcatcher Inn about three locations down on Moonstone Drive but were dismayed to find that the" oceanview" suite we were booked in had only an 11 by 14 window to look out at the ocean (with a shrub in the way !)(The Fogcatcher was nice enough to give us our money back however!) so we left in search of a view and found that and much more at the Cambria Shores Inn.......newly remodelled...I think we were the first ones to stay in our room..it seemed that new! We ARE NOT dog owners but do LOVE them so it didn't bother us at all that we had dogs all around us... our kids loved the fact that they had all kinds of dogs to play with! Our room was beautiful, comfortable and quiet! Breakfast was a delightful basket hung on a hook outside the door ! I cannot say one bad thing about this place ! Tim and staff were wonderful! We want to get a dog and return next year!

From the reservations call to Tim to the time we checked out, the Cambria Shores Inn experience was just what we were looking for. It is a perfect oasis that allows visitors to slip out of the rat race and into a more spiritual state for a few days.

We enjoyed the clean rooms and the little extras that make this a very special place. Extras like, doggie treats on the bed when you arrive. Flat screen TV's and comfortable beds with a special cover so you can enjoy it with your puppy too.

Every morning about 8 you will get a nice basket of goodies delivered to your room. No one will knock just in case you are sleeping in a bit... they hang it on a hook just outside the door. You can just reach outside to get it without having to get dressed.

Service here is amazing and feels like you are visiting good friends that just happen to have 24 rooms to share. We enjoyed visiting with Tim and Patrick and the little snacks they have in the office. There is also coffee and tea just in case you need a beverage while you sit on one of the many comfy chairs while Ocean watching.

When the sun sets, the place is magic as everyone comes out on the lawn to enjoy the show. The office has warm cookies and other edibles to enjoy while the sun makes it's departure.

We love this place!

Right across the road from the ocean beach (road is lightly-traveled). We paid $135 for an oceanview room (see picture). Non-ocean view was $125. This is more than we usually spend, but decided to splurg due to the location on the beach - and it was worth it. There are lounge chairs on the grassy hotel grounds for gazing at the ocean, or you can cross the road and stroll the extensive wooden boardwalks along the beach (see picture). We made the reservation on their 800 number, and got an email confirmation. All rooms are non-smoking. This is a dog-friendly hotel, and dogs are alllowed to sleep in the room with guests for $10/night. They also have some rooms that are non-dog-use rooms. They offer fresh-baked cookies in the afternoon, appetizers in the evening, and you will find a breakfast basket hanging outside your room in the morning. Microwave and fridge in room. Reservations cancelled within 7 days of arrival have charge of one nights lodging plus $20. The nearby town of Cambria is nice but busy. Hearst Castle is 6 miles north. Elephant Seal beach is 14 miles north (see picture). We had a nice meal on the oceanview patio at Moonstone Beach Grill, just north up the road from the hotel driveway.
