My girls and I love tea rooms. We go to them often. This one had terrible service! One girl seating people, taking orders, preparing your tea, bringing your food, answering the phones, ringing people up and helping customers in the little shop area! It was terrible. She was a little testy and rude, but I can understand why. Don't waste your money here. Forgo the tea room experience in Cambria!!!!!!

We used to live in San Luis Obispo, and were so excited to return to the Tea Cozy and Cambria. The tea room is in a historic home on a quiet side street in Cambria... really the whole location feels like a time warp to 1900 and sometimes that is just what you need! Especially on a hot summer day, going here where it is cool and breezy is really so nice. The menu is virtually the same now that ownership has transitioned, but the service is just not what it once was. The previous owners really set the stage for the experience; even though they were very formal, there was just enough warmth and charm there. We would take friends to The Tea Cozy when they visited from out of town. The owner had a way of saying "tomahto baasil bisque" that was really charming and funny, and the experience of pouring your tea through a strainer, using milk and sugar, etc, was all explained. The new owners just don't maintain this ambiance. There is a young and very sweet hostess that seems a little frazzled and overworked. The owner herself asked where we were from (Oregon) and then explained that she had recently been there and it was too cold and she hated it. That was a little awkward, and then we overheard her husband talking loudly in the gift shop to someone about what a difficult business this was. So overall, the ambiance was just no longer there, and I noticed that they no longer played music. The physical location is truly amazing though, and I would still recommend it for that. In general though, the change is a little sad.

We found this place as we were wandering Cambria and thought we would try it out for lunch. It is a cute little house that is split up into two rooms with about 4 tables in each room. It is very cozy (name serves it well!) and we were seated right away. We ordered the special for the day which was a gourmet grilled cheese and it was amazing! We also each got a pot of tea to try out two different ones and got Tea Cozy specials (Spring and Summer) and both were fabulous! The service was really great as well! They also have a little shop in the back where they sell teapots and teas, so we even bought a bag of our favorite to take home as a souvenir!

I am so sorry to read that others have had a bad experience at the Tea Cozy. We come over here several times a year and have always enjoyed it so much. We have found the staff to be friendly and outgoing every time. We had to wait one time but it was no big deal. When they are crowded and people don't leave when you expect it can get complicated. If I had made a reservation a month earlier I think I would have checked again before leaving just to be sure everything was a planned. Anyway, the food is great (love the burger and sticky toffie), and the ambiance is lovely. Its a great trip back to "England", and a great respite from the everyday life we live. Thanks for being there for us!

We arrived with a reservation made several weeks prior. There were 5 of us, one was a toddler. 3 parties arrived behind us, they were all seated prior to us. We finally were seated, and were also the last to have our order taken. We waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for our food. The other thing I found disappointing is that there was not 1 high chair in the place. The toddler was an angel for close to 2 hours before getting fussy. We ordered the tea service for 2. When my daughter and I wanted different kinds of tea we were told there was a shortage of tea pots and we had to choose one we both liked. After several minutes our waitress finally agreed to give us different kinds of tea....
