We stopped for a night in Cambria and stayed in Sea Otter Inn.
The staff was nice and our room was very nice!
It was like an appartment with a bathroom, little open kitchenette, fireplace and huuuuuuge bed!

+

Balcony at the backyard
Huge bed
Bed was super comfortable
Nice area but cold
Pool
Overall experience
Fireplace
Clean room and an environment
Free wifi
Free parking

Not anything to complain :)

Moonstone Beach is one of my favorite places to get away to. It's a good way to break the trip between SF & LA. I've stayed in a number of the hotels on the stretch and Fogcatcher Inn was always my favorite. But this time I noticed the gardens were let go. So on the return trip I stayed at the "original" garden hotel, Sea Otter. The rooms are lovely, quiet, quality beds & bedding, fireplace. A simple breakfast (more sweet than savory) is served in the office to take back to one's room. And of course the grounds are well-maintained. I was comfortable and satisfied.

We have stayed at the Sea Otter Inn multiple times now, including once for our wedding. They have always been very accomodating, even when we've brought our dog along. The rooms are always very well kept, the beds are comfy, and I always like the shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers in the showers. The location is obviously great. If you can afford it, upgrade to an ocean view room. We've stayed in a regular room, a suite, and a garden room (has a small patio out back). All have been terrific.

I took my guy to Sea Otter Inn for his 50th birthday and it was wonderful. The room was clean and well appointed. Right across from the ocean with adirondack chairs to sit and and vegetate and watch the sunset. It was very relaxing and quiet which was what we both were looking for. The only things I can suggest to the staff would be to please put screens on the windows. Yes I can see that maybe it might impede ocean view, but not ideal to have window at ground level open at night while sleeping. The other thing would be to please have some sugar free or no sugar added items in the continental breakfast. Diabetics may want to steer clear so I would not want to deter any customers. Yes there was yogurt and instant oatmeal but the sugar content very high for type 1 diabetic. I only rate breakfast poor because of the sugar items. Otherwise there was a good selection if you don't mind all the sweets.

Every fall we travel up to Cambria and stay at this charming motel on Moonstone Beach. Just steps away from the ocean board walk. Nothing special about the rooms unless you stay in one of their suites but each room does have a fireplace heater. Very hospitable staff.

Room Tip: Front rooms/suite have the best (ocean) view-pricer but if you can afford worth the extra expense.

Right across from the ocean, friendly and helpful staff and it is locally owned and operated I highly recommend an ocean view room with your own private patio facing the ocean, it also has a spacious beautiful room with a king-size bed. We had breakfast on our patio and took a walk on the pier on the cliff overlooking the beach. What a relaxing, wonderful place to stay at such a good price!

Room Tip: Ocean view room is the way to go! Suites are located further from the ocean.

We love Cambria. We've visited more than a dozen times. This was our first stay at the Sea Otter. I loved the proximity to the boardwalk. Our family enjoyed a walk in the rain! You can hear the ocean crashing on the beach. It's magic. If you want a quaint, charming hotel, this is the place.
