Very easy to find with good car parking facilities. Literally across from the sea - an incredible setting. Our room, a standard king, looked out to the side of the building. The room was clean and adequate for our needs. A real bonus was tea, coffee and cold drinks freely available in the reception area. Breakfast the next morning was delicious with plenty of choice. The young lady serving was helpful and gracious. I would certainly stay here again. The place has an old world charm.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, ask for a ground floor sea view room complete with balcony and direct views to the sea.

What a view from the patio! Wow! Rooms were well appointed and the bed was comfortable. The great thing about this hotel is the location across from the boardwalk and close to the Seachest Restaurant. Staff was great and made us feel welcomed. We look forward to coming back!

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor by the breakfast area and can get noisy early. Breakfast starts at 6:30 am.

We decided to break up the drive from San Diego to San Francisco with a stop in Cambria. At short notice, in August, most of the motels on Moonstone Beach were booked. Fortunately, Sand Pebbles had a vacancy. We had stayed at a Pacifica hotel before and knew what to expect. The room would be immaculate, the front desk clerks pleasant and accommodating, and we would be able to get an ocean view room.
We were not disappointed. But the surprise was that we lucked into one of only four full ocean view rooms, which are located at the front end of the property. The two on the ground floor have decks, the two above comfortable oversized chairs facing the view through a screened window.
Unlike the Pacifica Pismo Beach motel, which is on the beach side, Sand Pebbles (along with all the other motels) sits across the road. While all the properties appear nicely maintained, this is an updated 50's motel row, which will not appeal to some. As well, an overnight stay (or longer if you plan to spend time at nearby Hearst Castle) is pricey. Our Triple A discounted room still cost almost $275 for the night, and a meal at one of the two restaurants in walking distance added another $75 to the total.
Still, if cost is not a major factor, and you do not mind if you wind up with a room near the water but not necessarily looking at it, Sand Pebbles is a good choice.

My family of four spent one night here at the Sand Pebbles Inn while we visited Hearst Castle. We checked in around dinner time and left first thing the next morning, so we didn't spend a ton of time at the hotel itself. The staff we encountered were very friendly. We booked a room with two queen beds, which was very nicely decorated and in very good shape but a bit small; we had trouble finding places to put our four suitcases. The bathroom was also very nice and actually quite large. The hotel is directly across from the ocean, which was a treat. The free breakfast was very good, with waffles cooked for you, as well as fresh fruit, bagels, yogurt, and juice. A great way to start the day. The hotel also always had cold water as well as coffee and hot water available in the reception area. Free wifi too, which is always a plus.

July 24 and 25, 2013 We loved our room at Sand Pebbles Inn. Very clean with king sized bed which was extremely comfortable. My sister and husband had the room right next to ours, also a king room, equally as nice as ours. Room was upscale for the price, with fireplace, small refrigerator, coffee maker, nice TV. Bathroom had good toiletries. I really liked that it is a small property, no elevators, just straight thru the small lobby and half way down to the hall to our room. Parking was never an issue. Staff was helpful and friendly. Coffee, decaf and water was always available in the lobby. The breakfast was very nice with an attendant to make waffles and keep things clean and refilled. Would highly recommend.
