“Welcoming & wonderful”
Reviewed November 28, 2009

My Husband and I deceided to spend our 25th wedding Anniversery in the US.
After 10 days travelling around we had a night booked at the Fogcatcher Inn. We arrived late on a miserable night and we were welcomed with homemade cookies and a friendly face and the next morning had a wonderful breakfast ( the first one included in the whole trip)We only had one night in Cambria and now wished we had a few more nights. We intend to come back in the next few years and will spend a few more days here. I would highly recommend you stay here.

This was a perfect place after a day at the Hearst Castle. Although it is cute on the outside, one may think of it as just another motel, but this is much nicer. The rooms are nicely decorated and we had a cathedral ceiling and a gas fireplace as well. Comfortable bed with nice linens, very clean room. Breakfast was very good with danish, waffles, french toast, bagels, toast etc in a very cute room. My only complaint is that there are several outside steps on the walkway to the room which is difficult with luggage.

Picturesque! Jane found a sitter for our dog and cat while we visited Hearst Castle. The beds were clean and comfortable. The fireplace was just the right touch for this "English " style inn. The breakfast was hot and had many selections to choose from. I know that we will find the time to come back to this wonderful, relaxing place. The ocean is just across the road, and there are many resturants to choose from. We ate at one just a few steps up the road. What a great time we had. We are sorry that it was not longer.

This is a charming set of buildings in a location right across from the beach. The rooms while nice are getting a bit run down and need a little paint. The bathrooms are quite basic. It's a comfortable place, however, if cell service or wifi is important to you then DO NOT STAY HERE. There is no cell service here (as the desk clerk put it "people have trouble getting a signal") They claim to have wifi but their claim is roughly equivalent to saying there is atmosphere on the moon. Its true there is but not enough to sustain life. I had important work to do this weekend and the wifi constantly dropped and when it would was excruciatingly slow. I must have wasted 3 hours trying to connect or repair the connection over 2 days. Also, it was not just a function of my room's location as I tried to connect from a bench in front of the front office door and was constantly dropped. Finally, I found the staff to a be a little rude. We must have waited 25 minutes to check in as the desk clerk got one call after another and instead of putting them on hold, we had to wait as each of these people were served ahead of us. The breakfast was non-descript: eggs sausage, make your own waffles cereal, oranges and bananas and some light pastries. great location for Hearst Castle (10 minute drive)

My husband and I came to Cambria to celebrate our 29th anniversary. We booked 3 nights at the FogCatcher after reading various reviews. We splurged and had an upstairs full ocean view room with fireplace and truly loved it. It was so cozy and the bed very comfortable. I would have loved a balcony and then we probably never would have left! The location is perfect and the breakfast provided nice choices. When we came back from an afternoon in Morro Bay, we found a lovely swan and heart design made out of towels and fresh flowers. The cleaning girls noticed our anniversary cards and left us this special treat. I would definately stay here again and hope we can come back soon!

Stayed here overnight halfway on our drive from San Francisco to LA and was very pleased - got a good rate on Expedia, but didn't expect the size of the room and certainly not the free breakfast and wifi! Very charming, gas fireplace was lovely and location very pretty. Arrived and were given cookies and restaurant reccomendations. Watched the sunset then walked up the road for dinner.
Fogcatcher made our "in between" night really lovely.

Perfect location, just across the road from the beach. Clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was a bit of a squeeze as there were not enough tables but the choice of food was good. The staff were really helpful, menus of most local restaurants available at reception. Great view of the sunset from the pool/spa area.
