Cambria's Moonstone Beach is lovely, and the FogCatcher's location directly across from the beach and boardwalk was nice. Our room was on the ocean side of the hotel, and we opened the windows to hear to surf. Our room, as advertised, was cozy but quite comfortable, with a fireplace and a window-seat. The hotel was much more peaceful than I thought it would be, given that we visited during spring break. For example, though the hotel was full we had the hot tub to ourselves and the breakfast room didn't feel overly crowded. The breakfast offered a lot of variety: pastries and eggs and lots of types of teas. My only suggestion to the management is to serve fresh, not frozen, berries at breakfast! It's easy to find fresh fruit in season in California, and that would have made our stay all the better.

Check-in people were more than friendly. Room perfect. 'Free' breakfast actually quite good. We will stay here again. The recommendation for dinner was helpful--we walked down street to Moonstone Bar and Grill. Perfectly acceptable.

The Fogcatcher is just across a small road from beautiful Moonstone Beach and a long boardwalk along the ice plant covered cliffs that rise about 30 feet above the sand. It's a wonderful little resort area with charming inns and people enjoying the beautiful views and sunsets over the ocean.

Our room was very nice and (most important) very clean. It was a Garden View room with single king bed. High ceilings made it seem roomy and the gas fireplace kept it very cozy. I saw a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee machine in the room but didn't use them. The room was quiet -- we never heard the large family next door. The carpet and furniture are showing their age, with chips and frays, but that did not bother us; we spent our time outside walking along the beach and boardwalk and very little time in the room. The bathroom was small with a single sink inside the same room as the bath/shower.

Fresh warm cookies and hot coffee and tea greeted us at the office when we checked in -- nice! And the free breakfast was great -- scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, potatoes, and much more.

We've also stayed at the Pelican Inn, which is right next door. The Fogcatcher and Pelican Inn are the most charming looking of all the inns that stand side by side, I think. They are both very nice inns. When we return, I'd be happy to stay at either one, but I will be more inclined to choose the Fogcatcher because of the good breakfast!

We stayed 2 nights at the Fogcatcher Inn. While the Fogcatcher is not a 5 star hotel it is very charming and comfortable. They have a wonderful breakfast in the morning offering eggs, sausage, waffles & more. We also used the jacuzzi one afternoon which was nice and hot, very relaxing. We had booked a garden room and were upgraded to an ocean view which was nice hearing the ocean waves crashing at night. Even though the hotel is across the street from Moonstone Beach the road is not busy at night. There is a nice boardwalk directly across the street to walk along the coast. Room also had a small refrigerator, coffeemaker & microwave. The gas fireplace is the heat for the room which warms up nicely. Several restaurants on the street that are walking distance, we ate at the Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill which we enjoyed very much. We plan on visiting again when we return to Cambria!

Room Tip: The garden rooms open up to the parking area so I think the ocean front rooms may be nicer since you...

Thought that we would check out Cambria and was told by a friend that Fogcatcher was the place to stay. We arrived one hour early and was surprised when we received an upgrade to an ocean view. Absolutely loved the room very roomy and with a fireplace made it cozy. The continental breakfast was much more, there were 2 different kind of scrambles eggs, potatoes, sausage and the regular fare. Very good. Will defiantly go back there. The only thing I missed is a private patio to watch the ocean on. But the boardwalk was right across the street and there were benches along that.

We booked a room with 2 queen beds (for 2 adults and 2 teenagers) online at the last minute, and got lucky - they upgraded us to the Family Suite! It's a huge apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, great living area, and 3 TVs. It was way more than we expected and everything was lovely. The breakfast (included in the room rate) was way better than the usual continental hotel fare, with eggs and bacon, potatoes, fruit, breads, cereal, great coffee and a good selection of tea. Office staff were helpful and friendly. The location is lovely, right across the street from Moonstone Beach, with a nice boardwalk and steps down to the beach. No shops or facilities so it feels rustic and quiet, which is what we like! Lots of dogs out for walks and seals floating just beyond the waves. We'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: Our room was right across from the breakfast room, but the noise didn't seem to bother us.
