Definitely worth the stop! Great restaurants and charming cottages to stay at. Amazing sunrises and sunsets!

If you're in the general area of Cambria, Moonstone Beach is worth a visit. It's free to access, has easy free parking and is as safe as a pacific coast beach can be. It's not pretty enough to warrant a special trip but if you're in the area anyway it's certainly worth visiting.

We stayed directly across from this beach and it was breathtaking. The beach and coastline are rugged and natural. There are beach access places at regular intervals or you can choose to just walk along the board walk overlooking the beach. You will need a jacket and I even used a hood as it was very breezy at any time of day. The fog in the mornings was something I had never experienced before. It was very atmospheric.

I love rocks - so walking on the beach looking for moon stones was so much fun. they have little shops just a drive up - this was such a peaceful vacation. LOVED every minute of it.

We always enjoy communing with the ocean so not finding any moonstones or other interesting rocks or shells, didn't seem to bother us.
