We chose this hotel as it was close to the venue for a wedding we were attending. It ended up being new and super nice. Rooms were well appointed and clean. The front desk staff was friendly. The pool provided hours of fun for our daughter. They provide breakfast as part of your room fee. The breakfast included eggs, potatoes, fresh made waffles, fruit, yogurt, cereal, muffins, oatmeal, coffee and juices. We were told they also offered a light dinner as part of your room fee but we didn't try it. There are free newspapers as well. There is a small "marketplace" to get drinks and snacks but there is a gas station and convenience store right across the street (walk across in 2 minutes) where there is a better selection for lower prices.

For restaurants, I would head north on the 101, towards Ventura, for a better selection.

Room Tip: We ended up on the end near the elevator and I thought it would be noisy but it was quiet and actually a great location - near the stairs for quick in and out access.

Usually we stay at the Best Western when in Camarillo, but everything was booked on the west side of town (the Strawberry festival). We ended up staying at the Residence Inn. This was a great alternative. We ended up with a suite for $169/night, which had a fully equipped kitchen (even had a dishwasher), living area with a flat screen TV, a gas fireplace (can get cool in Camarillo so this was a plus), and a separate bedroom with another flat screen TV. The kitchen had a coffee station.

The property itself is large, and was very well maintained with some beautiful gardens. There is a good sized swimming pool and patio, and they have a billiards room. The breakfast (all week) and dinner(week days) are included. They don't have a bar per se, but they do sell wine and beer which you can have on the patio, or take back to your room. Pricing for both are just a couple of dollars more than retail. Location wise, its a reasonably short walk to old Camarillo for dining.

One small nit ...no safe .... which is rather unusual. On the other hand, there is good internet service (both wireless and hard-wired), for which there is no charge. If you factor in all the things they don't charge for, the place is a bargain.

The staff were courteous and attentive. The cleaning staff even washed our dishes for us, so we always came back to a spotless room. We would definitely stay there again when next we are in Camarillo.

We are from OH but were out in Camarillo for a wedding. This property was recommended by the bride and groom as being convenient to the venue. It was, and it was so much more. The staff was great offering a dinner suggestion that turned out great (Lure) and the property was first class. They also welcomed us back each time we walked in--a small touch to be sure but still nice.

There's an outside pool (we didn't use it) and an outdoor gas fire pit (we did use it). The rooms were well appointed and the only minor issue we had was that the AC/Heat vent was located on the wall opposite the bed and it blew air directly on us. But I stuffed a towel in it and the other two nights were fine.

I would highly recommend if anywhere in the area!

Room Tip: we asked for a higher level (3's as high as it goes) and the room was a little bigger than the other 4 rooms in our party.

Stayed 4 days, quite, comfortable, close to freeway, friendly, no possible complaints. Had food out on the patio one night, always tried to do something special.

After a very bad check in experience, our little getaway ended up okay.

The only person that saved this trip was a gentleman named Earl, although he was the one that made our check in experience less than desirable, but he made it up to us big time.

We did end up staying here because it was 1 AM and we were too tired to look for another hotel.

I only stay at Marriott properties and usually love Residence Inn's, and although this Inn is clean and very up to date with interior design, I'm not fond of the all indoor Residence Inn's. I much prefer the setup they have in Oxnard at the River Ridge Golf Course. Bigger property, bigger rooms, much more quiet and very close to everything you might need.

The breakfast buffet was okay. The buffet room area is very small. Doesn't make for an enjoyable breakfast.

Not that I wouldn't stay here again, but if given the choice, I will stay in Oxnard next time.

But a big applause to Earl! He was very level headed, never raised his voice, never got mad, made sure our every little whim was addressed.

Room Tip: TIP - if you book a room at this hotel through 1-800 Marriott's phone number, and they ask you if you have a government ID, ask them to specify. I answered, YES, and was told my room rate would be $84.00 per night. At check in, we found out that my ID is Federal not State and they charged me $123.00 per night! Sorry, but that is a BIG difference! It's not Earl's fault of the hotel property policy, but it left a very sour taste in my mouth.
