My husband and I checked in at 10 p.m. after a long day of driving and were delighted to find an amazingly comfortable bed. The room and bathroom were clean, the breakfast was adequate for a chain hotel, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The exterior of the property was a little worn, but the nice bed and reasonable room price more than made up for that. We'll definitely stay here the next time we're in Calistoga.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms facing the vacant lot are very quiet.

This is great lil place to stop in the Wine Country - we stayed there in April 2013 and went back because of comfy bed and real nice staff! Was very quiet and just about a 10 minute walk to the heart of town.

Hotel is pretty central to a lot of wineries and within walking distance of the lovely downtown in Calistoga. Rooms are average hotel rooms, with plenty of room, and are pretty clean. Comes with a hot breakfast. For the price, hard to go wrong.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Added benefit, the pool and hot tub are natural mineral water, so we saved on going to a spa (we had certificates for massages at home). Sauna and steam room also a nice touch as well as a "decent" fast breakfast available.
If you're not looking for the lush and lavish, this place is perfect at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Don't really know. We arrived late so we didn't have a choice. The only thing is if you ca...

It was exactly as advertised and expected. It is a Comfort Inn and compares to others of the brand. Nice comfortable beds and clean rooms with air conditioning. The naturally heated outdoor pool and spa with sauna and steam room are a nice touch. Put your chilled rose in the paper coffee cups and relax in the pool after a stressful day of wine tasting!

You can walk to town in 8 minutes or take the great $1 shuttle that goes everywhere in the area. You could do a whole wine tasting tour of great wineries on a bicycle or with the shuttle from this hotel very easily.

The continental breakfast was very well appointed. It includes Belgian waffles made to order, hard boiled eggs and baked goods of all sorts.

Secret tip: The small mom-n-pop Laura Michael winery just up the road was the best tasting experience of our stay! Thanks Michael!

I understand this is Calistoga and accommodations aren't always easy to come by. My husband made reservations here as a surprise for a weekend of hot air ballooning and relaxation. I was super excited until we pulled into the drive way. First off, this property looks old and not very well cared for. Now I must tell you, I am a flight attendant and travel all of the world staying in all sorts of accommodations. My airline(which hates to spend $$) wouldn't even put us in accomadations such as this, knowing it wouldn't pass the criteria needed for us. We enterd the room and my suspicions, based upon the outside, were confirmed. The rooms are outdated and the decor dismal. The floors were dirty and I didn't even want to walk without shoes and socks. The bathroom was in need of a renovations since the paper on the walls were peeling, mold in the tub and ceiling There is no insulation between the walls as you can hear everything between rooms and the outside pool area. The pool may fit 10 people at most at one time but that is SRO (standing room only). Again, I understand this is Calistoga, and accomadations can be challenging but this hotel is definitely not worth the $200+ per night. At best this room is worth $100... and that is being extremely generous given the location.

ComfortInnCalistoga, General Manager at Comfort Inn Calistoga, Hot Springs of the West, responded to this review, May 28, 2013
Dear 51ggz,

I apologize that we did not meet your expectations upon your recent stay at our hotel. We strive to make our hotel a welcoming place for all of our guests and to provide a sense of value when traveling in the wine country. I apologize that the decor in our rooms did not meet your expectations as we place much importance on representing our rooms accurately in all our pictures posted online. As to the cleanliness of your particular guest room, as a Comfort Inn, our hotel undergoes numerous inspections by our Franchise inspectors with cleanliness a highly emphasized area. To date, we maintain very high scores in this respect so that is why I would definitely appreciate if you could please send an email to info@comfortinncalistoga.com with the room number and check-in date of your stay so that I may look into your particular room more thoroughly and address the issues you mention. As can be seen from many of the other reviews we have received, cleanliness is an aspect in which we continually are applauded for and I apologize that in this case, we missed the mark.

Cheers,

Peter P.
