Brad from the bike shop delivered bikes to our resort, along with maps, a recommended route, instructions for the bike and recommended stopping points along the way to refuel. We were only in the area for a couple of days, and this was definitely a highlight! Make sure to stop by the Clif shop in St. Helena for bars and water bottles and then a glass of wine at the end. Also, bring a small camera because the views are spectacular and you will want to remember them forever. We will definitely do this again.

We showed up on the morning we wanted to hire the bikes and the guys were really helpful. Hooked us up with some great touring bikes, and asked a few questions about fitness levels, how far/high we wanted to go, and showed us four or five wineries they thought would suit. They were very knowledgeable about the region, places to stop for lunch, and also about bikes in general, including high end pedals etc. The hire of the bikes included the tasting fee for a number of wineries, and they also picked up anything we purchased throughout the day. Our wines were waiting for us when we returned the bikes!

Brad at Calistoga Bike Shop was super helpful, and got us set up with some great bikes and winery stops. We did 3 wineries in about 4 hours, including bike time and lunch. Brad knew exactly which wineries would be perfect for our group. We did Summers and Tedeschi, which were amazing. One other that I can't recall. It was a great way to spend an afternoon, enjoying the beautiful CA countryside and traveling at our own pace from vineyard to vineyard. A totally awesome experience. They picked up our wine for us so we had no worries. Fabulous! Will be back if Brad is working! This was also a great deal - the tasting fees were no charge since we came from Calistoga Bike Shop.

If you're a wine and cycling enthusiast, please read this review.

First, no, I'm not affiliated with the shop. This is a completely authentic review from someone who just used their services this past week, while we visited from Texas. We love a nice vigorous ride, and we love wine. I spoke with Brad the owner, a coiuple weeks before our trip, and explained that we wanted a good ride of 30+ miles, self guided, with the ability to backload with wineries (don't want to be hitting a bunch of wineries at the beginning of a 30+ mile ride!). Their Point to Point program was just what the doctor ordered.

We arrived a little before 8 a.m. at the shop. He had a couple of hybrids read for us (I recommend hybrids over a straight road bike due to the road conditions in some places), made adjustments as needed, dropped us off at Bouchon for breakfast, about 20-25 miles down the Napa Valley in Yountville. We got in a great ride, he provided us with a map which, as we were driving to the drop off in Yountiville, he gave us guidance on things to highlight, and road segments to avoid. We zig-zagged between the main thoroughfare (Highway 29?) and the Silverado Trail, based upon the wineries we wanted to visit, and road conditions.

Based upon Brad's recommendation, we picked up sandwhichs and salads at a historic 100+ year old store/deli, and picknicked at a winery in St Helena (along with some killer sheep's milk brie we bought at the wineries deli). We hit approximately 10 wineries, and at each stop, when we bought bottles of wine, we simply texted the shop with the winery name and the number of bottles.

When we arrived at the shop, around 5:00 p.m., where our car was parked, Brad was out covering the route, picking up our bottles for us. We had a glass or 2 of sauv blanc at Vermille's winery across the street. We walked across the street to the shop, where Brad had just arrived with all our purchases, which we loaded into the car, and drove to our accomodations at the Vinter's Inn, in Santa Rosa (another sweet story).

I'll close with how I opened, if you love wine and are a cycling enthusiast, like this Texan and his girl are, skip all the tours you'll find in your Google searches, and contact Brett at the Calistoga Bike Shop.

I rented a road bike from Calistoga bikeshop. I was very pleased to be able to rent the exact frame I ride at home, Orbea Orca. Regardless of the different part set and wheels, the ride was familiar and pleasing. Excellent service from the bike shop to deliver the bike to my hotel for my first early morning ride, and that was early - 6 am :) Thank you!
(I did not go on a bike wine tour, but enjoyed the routes the shop people had marked on the map. There was especially challenging 6+ mile continuous ascent. I just had to do it couple of times...)
