I love staying here for so many reasons. The setting is contemporary, open, airy and just puts one at ease. The service staff takes this and runs with it as every need is anticipated and delivered with a smile. The rooms are spacious, thoughtfully composed and super comfortable. And then of course there is Solbar - the restaurant where I eat more frequently than anywhere else in Napa - love it.

My husband and I stayed here for a second time in a year. We love the place. It's service is outstanding all the way from the greeters when we drove up to the guy who delivered a new box of tissues about 2 minutes after I requested it. We loved the patio furniture on our porch to sit outside and read in the quiet and tranquil atmosphere. We took the retro bikes 1/4 mile away and did a hike for an hour up a local peak -- Oat Creek Preserve or something like that. It was wonderful and so close!

We ate breakfast both days at Solbar. The food was creative and very yummy. They were more than willing to split our breakfast entrees and our fruit plate was bursting with local berries and all sorts of things.

As we drove up we were able to work with Jason, the concierge, to book appointments at local wineries at the last minute. Jason was awesome and guided us to some great tours and got tasting fees waived at some places too. Very nice. Our only glitch was that there's only Jason and he can only work 5 days a week. Not sure why they don't have a backup but he sure is AWESOME!

We also at at JoLi and Barolo in town. Totally fantastic meal at JoLe!! Barolo was enjoyable but if you only have one place to eat, do JoLe but you must have reservations!

On reading the recent (and only) bad review on Solage I really don't understand what the person was talking about. The hotel is eco-friendly with drought tolerant grasses all over the property. I didn't notice any dead plants and there were workers replanting a tree but that's all we saw. Our room was very quiet as was the neighborhood in general. Maybe asking for a room at the back of the property would have worked for them but, who knows.

We did use the fitness center and I took a pilates class the last stay. The facility is wonderful. If you are interested in their classes call ahead to check the schedule. We booked a wine tour that conflicted with a free pilates reformer class that I would have liked to take. Hardly any resorts have free good classes like that! My pilates mat class the year before was great but they didn't offer it this week.

I could go on an on about this hotel...we were there on honeymoon for only 2 nights, but wish it could have been more. We were upgraded on arrival and from there on in were treated extremely well.

The room was gorgeous; had a seperate living room with fireplace and fenced off garden with a private whirl pool and table and chairs. The bathroom was huge and had all the things you could need in a room. Hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner etc. Bed was huge and extremely comfortable and we loved that we could plug our ipod in.

Food at solage was excellent too. We only had dinner there one night, but it was absolutely top class. The service was pretty good, but we have experienced better.

It was so much fun to have the bikes. We loved that as we cycled to the old faithful geyesr, which was fun.

The pool was stunning and the food and drink around the pool was equally as nice. None of this was cheap, but then again we were expecting this. My new husband and i did the mud bath spa and had such fun. Really worth it.

All in all and expensive little trip, but absolutely worth it. We really hope to go back someday.

My husband and I spent a long weekend at Solage Calistoga. Although we'd been to Napa several times in the past, this was our first stay in Calistoga. Solage was great! It is more low-key and eco-friendly than it's ultra luxurious sister property, Auberge du Soleil. Rooms are quite large, more like casitas. Each "casita" has its own terrace with lounge furniture and even comes with unlimited use of two free retro bicycles. There are a number of wineries within biking distance. If the weather permits, you MUST take advantage of this.

The hotel restaurant is fantastic. Breakfast is NOT to be missed. Dinner is also quite good.

The proverbial icing on the cake is the hotel's spa. The property (and much of Calistoga itself) sits on a thermal hot spring. All spa services come with use of the hotel's thermal pool. WOW. During our stay, my husband and I would lounge in the property's outdoor bar/courtyard area. You can order nibbles and, of course, wine, while you play a game of bocce in one of two bocce courts. Very cool!

The vibe at the hotel is eco-conscious and laid-back, yet trendy and stylish, with what appears to be a cool, urban clientele. Even the kids were stylish.

We were very impressed with the hotel and will absolutely return in the future.

Our travel agency specializes in high end pet priendly accommodations. We were delighted to stay at Solage, a fairly new pet friendly resort within walking distance to Calistoga. The individual rooms are set amongst a beautiful, serene landscaping. The spa is rated number one in the country, and for good reason. The onsite restaurant, SolBar is a lovely place for dinner, especially outside where your pooch is also welcome, and the food is exceptional. ( The proximity to Calistoga is also great for those who don't want to splurge on a Michelin rated restaurant every night.). The pools are beautiful and we love the added touch that the children's pool is separate. 2 bicycles are provided for each unit, which is so much fun. Our room was equipped with a big comfy bed for the dog (and one for ourselves), as well as dog bowls (water was also provided at the restaurant for the dog.) We especially appreciated and applaud Solage's "green" efforts. The staff are warm and inviting and were very friendly to our golden retriever. All in all it was a wonderful experience and we hope to go back often!

The worst service, the worst attitude,....

At check out, they tried to charge us more for room by 30%. When provided the proof of the rate that we had booked, the rudeness just got worse. STAY AWAY from this place. They simply lied and insulted the guests. While in line for check out, heard another argument over rates between the rude front gate employee and an older lady.

The property is in tough shape with cheap plastic furniture on patios, and the landscape is covered by weeds and dead plants. Not a pretty sight. You can hear the loud noise of care engines from nearby race track till late night like jet engines. No sleeping before 11 p.m. The house keeping pounds on the door before 9 a.m.

Staff is young perhaps high school age from the area towns with no clue about hotel, restaurant, or hospitality industry.
