“Welcome to Calistoga, D'Amici.....”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at the newest establishment in Calistoga, and a great find it was! D'Amici is owned by a long-time local family and their new place is a welcome addition to the local landscape, though only open for a month so far.

The place has a cool vibe, while having an inviting ambience. Service was superb, and the wine list is compact but offers an adequate variety to complement the unique Italian fare.

I had a gorgeous stacked salad of baby gem lettuce and radicchio tossed with a light Caesar style dressing, yummy with Flora Springs Chardonnay. The handmade strozzapreti pasta with shellfish was perfect with a glass of their red table wine, which is made at the family's Pestoni Winery, along with their line of Rutherford Grove wines, also available here.

My husband enjoyed the baked tomato stuffed with, and surrounded by, steamed mussels in a delicate basil infused broth. He paired it with the Rutherford Grove Petite Syrah, followed by the cappelini pomodoro and a glass of the house red.

Desserts were tempting but we had to pass. Maybe next time, and we hope there will definitely be many more "next times".

You won't find pizza here, but for some uniquely inspired, very-well priced Italian food with a wow factor, you must try D'Amici.
