We enjoyed a cocktail by the river. The outdoor seating was really cozy. Average points though because the outside bar area is quite small, the Bloody Mary not very good at all, and the bartender not so friendly.

We sat in the garden area, with white lights and tiki candles... the server was kind and professional, the live guitar music... the whole atmosphere was so romantic and memorable. The ribeye steak was a little less than desirable, but the rest of our meal was so outstanding, we can let that go!

We had a large group in Calistoga for a wedding, and we made arrangements for all of us to eat in their outdoor garden dining area - perfect. The staff was very accommodating of our group (they included an 18% gratuity) by grouping our checks by family. That said, the food was only so-so. I ordered the paella, which came with a kind of gluey sauce - the shrimp, clams and mussels were alright, but the overall dish left a lot to be desired.

There was a guitarist playing for the outdoor diners, which was nice.

My wife and I were in Calistoga for our anniversary in June. We drove by this place on our way to the hotel and walked back for dinner. The reviews here are surprisingly good, considering our experience. First, it wasnt horrible, but we were underwhelmed and expected more from what we saw. The hostess was friendly and seated us outside quickly..then we waited..and waited...and finally ordered appetizers and some wine. If there were any specials, we didn't hear them..

After waiting some more..(oh, did I mention they seemed to be understaffed?).. We finally got our wine, and appetizers, and food...all at about the same time. The waiter, who wasn't really a waiter so much as a busboy, given a pad to write on, didn't explain anything to us, make suggestions, offer anything else..just took our order..and eventually brought it all back. We had to catch people to get water.

We considered ourselves lucky, however, as though our meal took twice as long as it should have, the young couple next to us seemed to have gotten even worse service. We actually ran into them the next day shopping and we all shared our service stories, and found out that they did, indeed, finally get their meals.

The service was about as good as the food. We both ordered paella. The shrimp was cooked well, the sausage was more like jerky and nearly inedible. Overall flavor was good, but enough was wrong..

The ambience had potential, had we not been there when it was busy. As it was, it was a bit too crowded for a romantic anniversary dinner.

Very small bar area. Local hangout. Horseshoe area in rear much better for parties.
