$120 for four people and very small pours. The guy was ambivalent and could care less if we were there or not. It was my 40th birthday and he gave me a special "reserve" that was already opened. Ironically, the special was also given go the group next to use. There are too many great wineries to waste your time here.

Napa has become very expensive for wine tasting so when you spend $20 for 4 tastings you expect something reasonably special. The first negative at the tasting room was that we immediately had to pay before we even went to the tasting bar. I have never had this experience. It was about 45 minutes before closing and it was reasonably busy. The person who poured was totally full of himself. He kept quoting meaningless statistics and as it turned out he was incorrect. His pours were light and although he did upgrade up to reserve on one tasting he did not do the normal extra pours that we expect at the end of the day. Especially, because we are locals(Sonoma County) and if happy would recommend the winery etc. The bottom line is that there are tons of wineries in Napa Valley that charge a lot of money for tasting that treat you better than this winery did.

We just visited Napa and Frank Family Vineyards last weekend. My wife and I were so disappointed, we loved their wine but the tasting experience was really awful. It appears they do not care about the impression given, our host was just not very friendly, he spent more time talking to his co-workers than informing us about the wines. We visited many other vineyards during the same timeframe, including St. Supery, Peju, Gamble and Miner, and they were absolutely superb. Our wine club memberships and case purchases go to these folks, not to Frank Family. By the way, if one is buying several cases of wine, why wouldn't Frank Family wave $40 worth of tasting fees??

We had scheduled a wine tasting for 8 people but when we showed up we were asked to pay $20 at the door before being allowed in, then got herded in to a crowded bar where some guy gave us four small samples of wine. No explanation or discussion whatsoever that a normal winery would provide, it was like having some wine thrown at you in a random bar. Done in a couple of minutes then out the door. This was a pathetic experience, we felt like we were hustled out of $20 apiece. If you like their wine go inside and buy a few bottles and drink them outside. For the amount of money we paid for tasting we could have bought 4 whole bottles of the wine we sampled.

If you want a really nice, personalized tasting, tour, in depth explanation of wine making, grape growing, etc., go to Neal Family Vineyards. Not on,y is the wine and experience great but they don't charge anything.

We came back to Frank Family after having fallen in love with the wines 6 years ago. The wines are still just as great, if not better, but we missed the intimate, down-to-Earth, two-room tasting room. In its place is an extravagant house of a tasting room surrounded by statutes, landscaping and picnic tables. It's pretty but it lost its charm for me. Most disappointing is the policy of not applying the tasting fee ($20 or $30) to purchases, no matter the amount. However, Pam at our tasting made up for some the lost charm with her personable and friendly nature.
