If stairs are a problem for you this is not the place to stay. Aside from a bit of confusion about access this was the perfect place for our Calistoga visit. Walking distance to many restaurants, spas and wine tasting rooms. We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

I do not know where the people who wrote reviews that said this place was WONDERFUL stayed but the place we stayed at was dreary, noisy, shabby. Like a bad european hotel. The stairs were steep and long (two stories?) with no bell boy to help .Luckily the owner or manager happened to be there when we checked and he brought one of one of our suitcases up the stairs. The breakfast consisted of a basket delivered to our door with pastries ( which were good)a bottled sweet drink, two fruit and 2 packets of coffee. There was no table in the room so we ate on our lap. The balcony looks out onto the main street of Calistoga- not exactly a view you would want to see. Oh and by the way, do not leave the door to the balcony open after dark because bats will fly in.I kid you not. All this for $230.00 a night? Needless to say the photos do it too much justice.

Calistoga and this hotel was one of the best stops during our trip to California. A hidden treasure, extremely clean and comfortable. It seems like the hotel has received improvments, with careful items of decoration, comfortable mattress and good internet access from the room. The system that allows the entrance without any front door staff makes you feel like being at home. For those who do not care about this and even like this kind of experience is a place not to miss.

We just stayed at the Hotel d'Amici this past weekend for 2 nights. We couldn't have asked for a better place! Our room was beautiful, perfectly clean, extremely spacious with a lovely balcony (Suite 3). Each morning there was a delicious breakfast waiting for us outside our door from a local bakery. The check in/check out process couldn't have been any simpler- just pick up and leave keys in the room. The location right in downtown Calistoga was a perfect base for exploring wineries as well as for restaurants/spas etc. For what we got, the price was incredibly reasonable compared to other places in the area. Overall a great experience that we would highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed for three nights with another couple. We had suite 1 and they had suite 2.

Here's what we liked:
- Location - right in the middle of the main strip in Calistoga. Many shops and restaurants within a block in either direction.
- Shared balcony - We really enjoyed hanging out and drinking wine on the balcony. Gets a bit of sun in the afternoon as the awning is no longer there, but not a problem for us as it was pretty cool and breezy outside.
- Room size - Suite 1 was very spacious, with a nice sitting area, separate bedroom and large bathroom. Suite 2 was smaller, but still had plenty of room.
- Room furnishings - Both suites were very nicely furnished with high quality fixtures, accessories and furniture.
- Bed - Had read other reviews that said it was more like a double than a queen. Ours felt queen-sized, or maybe just slightly smaller - plenty of room for two. Mattress was a bit firm, but very comfortable to me. A couple of different pillows were available to choose from.
- Cleanliness - Everything was very clean.
- Easy self check-in/check-out. Use the code to get in the building, then find your keys in your room. Leave keys in the room when you leave - all done!
- Breakfast basket - Yummy croissant, muffin and scone each morning, along with a couple of pieces of fruit, fresh ground coffee and a bottle of juice. Also, fridge was stocked with a couple of new bottles of water each day.
- Complimentary bottle of Rutherford Grove wine. We enjoyed the bottles from each suite on the balcony.
- Other - Good water pressure and plenty of hot water.
- Quiet - We could hear other doors closing and people walking in the hall and down the stairs, but it was muted and not a problem. Never heard anything from the restaurant on the ground floor, and traffic noise on Lincoln was not a problem, except for the occasional overly loud motocycle or large truck.

The only minor complaint we had was that it was difficult to keep the morning light out of the bedroom. There is a small window in the bathroom that can be seen through a small window in the bedroom. Neither has shades nor curtains. Also, the French doors between the bedroom and living room did not have curtains and some light got in that way as well. Again, only a minor complaint and it did not affect our enjoyment of the suite whatsoever.

So, in summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would stay there again and would happily recommend it to others.

Loved staying at Hotel d'Amici. The location in the heart of Calistoga is perfect and the room is luxurious and spacious without being fussy. They even deliver breakfast to your room in the morning. A bottle of Rutherford Grove wine is waiting for you in the room, so thoughtful. 2 of the rooms share a balcony overlooking town and 2 of the rooms have fireplaces. Some rooms have clawfoot tubs and showers and some rooms have large tubs, perfect for two. This is a great place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel d'Amici, HOWEVER if you aren't capable of climbing two longg flights of stairs with your luggage in tow to the top, then this isn't the spot for you. After eating and sipping our way through wine country, we looked at this one "flaw" as a good fitness bonus. Otherwise, our room was spacious and comfy and we loved joining our friends on our common balcony overlooking the looking Lincoln Street action. The bed was comfortable with multiple pillow options and the bathroom nicely appointed. There was adequate reading light (something we rarely find anymore) and a welcoming bottle of wine to be enjoyed on the balcony. A breakfast basket was delivered to the door as promised with a yummy croissant, fruit and coffee. We would definitely return. But with lighter luggage :-)

Room Tip: If traveling with friends, ask for adjoining balcony room.
