Fanny's Bed and Breakfast

We called ahead that we were arriving late. The note as others have written was on the door, however we were immediately greeted by Deanna. She showed us upstairs. We selected our room. We were the only ones there on a Wednesday night. It was SOOOOOO wonderful. We woke up in the morning to the aroma of coffee. The breakfast was not only beautiful to the eye, but superb in taste. Deanna gave us great reviews on local vineyards, which supported small local wineries. They were SOOO much better than the large commercial places. We would stay at Fanny's again without hesitation. Thank you Deanna.

As stated in the review before, no one was there when we arrived, but that was not big thing, the room was easy to find and although small, had everything you needed. Deanna was very helpful and sent us to places (Russian River) that we did not know about and were fantastic. Breakfasts were very large, coffee and tea available whenever you wanted a cup. We stayed 4 nights and could have stayed longer. All in all a very good experience. Calistoga itself is a very pretty small town - great public golf course, really friendly. Would not hesitate to recommend this town and this very friendly B and B.

We stayed at Fanny's in late August and had the same arrival experience as the previous reviewer, however, we felt more than comfortable with the arrangement and found the accommodation superb. We stayed two nights and could have stayed longer if we had not already booked ahead. The breakfasts are exceptional and Deanna provided us with helpful information each day ( including a fully mapped itinerary on the first). Calistoga is a pleasant town with plenty of restaurants and it is ideally placed to tour Sonoma and Napa. Fanny's is a great base and we would happily return.

First, the innkeeper was not there when we showed up for check-in. There was a note on the door that told us to "take an empty room." The rooms had no locks on the doors and no keys. We felt uncomfortable and left for a few hours, assuming someone would be there by the time we got back around 6-7pm. When we returned, still no one was there. So, we decided to leave for another place because we didn't feel comfortable there.

It sounds like from other reviewers that the food and service is good the following morning, but our bad experience the night before unfortunately didn't get us to that point.

Very cute country house with an hammock in the large garden. The owner is an excellent hostess and makes you start the day off right for a day of wine tasting with a divine breakfast: from freshly squeezed juices, through cereals, home made jams, fresh fruits to french toast and scrambled eggs. She also helped to organize the following day and gave great suggestions on local wineries and sightseeing. Highly recommended.

My husband and I recently stayed at Fanny's for our wedding anniversary. It's in a great location and walking distance from the main street Lincoln Avenue. It's a charming house and our room was nice and clean. Definitely a more cozy feeling. The bathroom was clean and had all the amenities. I must admit though, I wasn't exactly pleased with my initial experience when we arrived. There was no one to greet us, no help with our bags or even to check us in - just a sign on the door to pick our room (which was the only one available). That was not a good start in my book. I didn't meet Deanna until the next morning at breakfast, but I wouldn't exactly say I met her. She never introduced herself or even asked if the room was okay. She did ask questions about where we had been, etc. and even suggested to stop by one of the local wineries. The breakfast was nice/okay. She had a tasty southwestern chili egg dish, but when it had been served for me it had been warmed again and was a bit crusty. Probably was better when baked fresh. It was a self serve buffet with juice, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, muffins and a very yummy cinnamon toast. All together I would say our experience was average. If you're looking for a place with a more personal touch, this is not the place for you. If you prefer not to be bothered and go about your business - this definitely is your place. It's just a matter of preference. My husband on the other hand liked it.
