“Nice Stay in Convenient Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

My sister and I stayed at this nice small bed & breakfast during harvest season in Napa. It's a really convenient location when if you want to see both Napa and Sonoma. Calistoga is nearby and has restaurants, grocery store and gas station. It's right on the Silverado Trail and easy to many great wineries! We stayed in the Dutch Henry room which has a kitchenette, queen bed in main room and double bed in separate bedroom. Décor is really cute and comfortable. Lani is very helpful on area information, and she provides wonderful homemade bread or muffins for breakfast. Additional continental style breakfast items are in refrigerator such as orange juice, milk and fruit and some cereals are provided. The grounds are nice and relaxing and there is a pool available. We used the hot tub, and it's very chlorine smelling but was great to relax and we liked that robes were provided. Only complaints - there was a lot of traffic since it was harvest time and lots of trucks were hauling grapes. Also we drove by it 3 different times and missed the turn. It's located on a curve and if you are going by too fast it's easy to miss! We would definitely stay here again. The location can't be beat and Lani is a wonderful host, the homemade bread was terrific, and the cozy feel of the place is really worth it.

I searched long and hard for a last minute 1 night's stay in Napa and as most all places in the area are 2 night minimum it was a struggle. I stumbled across the Trailside Inn and it was in the perfect location for our needs for the night. We are pretty local but had an event that evening so we were just looking for a quiet place to spend the night close by. We arrived at the small in along Silverado trail just outside of Calistoga and were greeted by the Innkeeper and her 2 adorable dogs. She showed us to our room which had a large living room, vintage style bathroom and small kitchen and bedroom. The place was simple but had nice special touches such as homemade banana bread, fresh fruit, coffee and a bottle of wine.

We didn't get as much time as we would have liked to relax on our deck or enjoy the jacuzzi but it was quiet and enjoyable and we were able to enjoy a nice night's sleep.

For the value and a quick stay I will surely be back to the Trailside Inn and would recommend it for any couple looking for a relaxing and quiet stay along the Silverado Trail.

Hidden away on the Silverado Trail near Calistoga, the Trailside Inn is a diamond in the rough. This was the second time that my wife and I have stayed with Lani and were pleasantly surprised to find she had a room available for late August. The reservation was followed in the mail by a nice brochure describing the Inn and a few things to do in Napa Valley. Breakfast may appear to be a little skimpy compared to other B&B's we've stayed at, but is actually just perfect for this sleepy little B&B. A bowl of fresh fruit, milk, orange juice, coffee (make your own), an assortment of dry cereal, and of course, Lani's famous fresh baked bread. Our first morning, it was the Bananna/nut loaf, and on the second day, two delicious Apple muffins. Do yourself a favor and have breakfast on the deck, relaxing and enjoying the views of the nearby vineyard and Lani's beautifully maintained garden. In the afternoon/evening, take a swim in the pool or relax with a complimentary bottle of wine in the jacuzzi. A great place to stay.

We found the Trailside Inn to be a delightful place to stay for a long weekend to celebrate the wedding of some friends. They were getting married at a nearby resort that cost an arm and a leg, and so I found the Inn originally as an economical choice. Compared to the nearby options, it was less expensive. However, it was also better than some of the other places we visited while hanging with friends staying at other hotels/b&Bs for the wedding. There are only three rooms on the property, so it's very intimate, each room has a nice porch area, and there's a great pool and a hot tub. There's ample parking, and breakfast, including some excellent homemade sweet breads and pastries, is provided. The innkeeper also steered us to some nice wineries on our down time. We would go back and plan to.

We spent three perfect day's at Trailside Inn. The room was spacious and comfortable. From the lovely outdoor seating to a comfy chair and a good reading light, Lani has worked hard to ensure her guests have what they need.

There is a lovely pool, a private and cozy hot tub, lots of spots to sit and enjoy the view over a neighboring vineyard.

Room Tip: There are three rooms -- two with full kitchens and one with kitchenette.

The Trailside Inn is a delightful B&B located right on the Silverado Trail on the north end of the Napa Valley amongst many of the area's best wineries. It is also a prime location for anyone wanting to do the combined wine tasting and bike-riding circuit. The Inn itself has three very spacious units that each are essentially free-standing parts of an old ranch house. The owner/manager, Lani, has operated the Inn since 1981. A retired long-time hospital nurse in the area, she is thoroughly knowledgeable about both the history of the Valley and the best current places to go ... and is generous in sharing her knowledge. You could not have a better or more helpful host for a visit to the Napa Valley. Neither Lani nor the Trailside Inn are pretentious, but the rooms have everything you could possibly want, there is a nice hot-tub and small swimming pool for post-cycling soaks, and the room rates are a real value by Valley standards. My wife and I will look forward to returning to the Trailside Inn on our next visit to the Napa area and would recommend it without qualification.

Calistoga is my favorite town in the Napa Valley. We stayed in the Sam Brennan room - it's larger than the average hotel room with a sitting area and kitchenette. Very clean but well-loved. Lani's baked goods were fabulous. We actually preferred being able to eat alone than in a common room. You have your own entrance from the deck and there is a grill and table/chairs out on the deck if you want to grill. The views are fabulous - mountains, vineyards. There is a hot tub and pool. Would definitely stay here again! The local Solage Spa/mud bath experience was great too!
