“Loved Chelsea Garden Inn”

We stayed at the cutest ,most charming Inn in Calistoga . It was run be a very entertaining and informative Inn Keeper called Connie. She had all kinds of knowledge of where to go and what to do in and around Calistoga. My friend & I found Chelsea Garden Inn quite by accident. We were staying at a disappointing health spa and when we talked with Connie, we decided to move immediately to Chelsea Garden and we stayed there two nights. The bed was absolutely heaven compared to where we originally stayed. But the full breakfasts that came with staying at Chelsea Garden were spectacular!!! Again our charming Inn Keeper, Connie, made a breakfast quiche so delicious that I am still dreaming of it today. Thank God that we found our way to such an incredible experience. I am definitely going to return to Chelsea Garden Inn and I am telling all my friends and family about the Inn and especially about our memorable Inn Keeper, Connie.

  • Liked — The very charming Inn Keeper, Connie and her amazing full breakfasts
  • Disliked — I like everything about the accomadation especially the comfortable beds

Chelsea Garden Inn (named after the owners' daughter) is located in Calistoga, California, at the northern end of Napa Valley. The Inn is located two blocks off the main street of town in a quiet neighborhood. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the spas, shops and restaurants of Calistoga. Our unit (the Palm Suite) was very comfortable and quaint (hardwood floors, nicely decorated, fireplace, and porch). Don't miss the 9:00 a.m. breakfast and the 5:30 hors d'oeurves. It's a great time to meet the other guests and become acquainted with Connie, the manager. Connie prepared breakfast herself (great egg dish). The owners (Susan and Dave DeVries) stopped in one evening and shared some wine from their own vineyard (a cabernet savignon - the only wine produced by Chelsea Vineyard). A delightful couple.

We stayed at a spa, a B&B, and Chelsea Garden Inn during our short stay in Wine Country in February. The Inn was our favorite and we recommend it wholeheartedly.

We stayed here for 2 nights in early November, chose it over some other B&B's in Calistoga because it was off the main highway and had wireless internet. The location was perfect -- quiet but a few blocks from a grocery store and downtown restaurants. Jennie was a great cook and provided us with suggestions and discount coupons. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage with living area, which was perfect for the 4 of us on a girls-only trip. The gas fireplace was perfect, new bathroom was also nice.

  • Liked — Location, friendliness of staff, breakfasts
  • Disliked — No wine at happy hour (temporary problem)

We just had a lovely stay at the Chelsea Garden Inn last weekend. Jenny the innkeeper was friendly and accommodating. The inn was walking distance to all of the little restaurants in town. We were mildly disappointed to learn that the wine and cheese hour is just cheese due to a temporary licensing issue. The cute room and yummy breakfast made up for it. We would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed in the "Garden Room" for 4 nights during our recent trip to Napa Valley. Calistoga is a laid-back, easy-going town. The Chelsea Garden Inn was lovely. The location is great - we walked to restaurants and shops each night and were away from the noise of traffic on the highway and the main downtown street. The innkeeper was helpful and breakfast each morning was quite nice - eggs, homemade bread, fruit, granola, yogurt. A great way to start a day of wine tasting. We would definitely return. October is a fabulous month to visit.

Stayed at CGI for about 8 nights while visiting Napa, Sonoma and the coast to chill (pun?) from the stresses of work. CGI is in Calistoga, and anyone staying in Napa Valley should consider somewhere other than Napa city itself to get a relaxin and slow feel of the Valley. Calistoga is a small town and easily accessible to the 29 and Silverado Trail. I felt Napa city was just too suburbish and crowded.

CGI had wonderful accomodations and a superb innkeeper, Connie. She made excellent breakfasts - complete with a different hot egg casserole every morning, pastries -and for our stay - we had croissants and scones:), fresh fruit, bacon/sausage, yogurt and cereal every day. You won't leave hungry in the a.m.- that's for sure. Connie also gave us great recommendations in what wineries to go to. This B&B location is on a quiet street, but still very close in walking distance into the main street of Calistoga, and close to a small supermarket for anyone needing essentials.

As for trip highlights - try to schedule a ballooning trip if the weather is clear and ensure you float over the wine valley (not over Napa city, and not in the mountains)..its a once in a lifetime experience. We went to about 13-14 wineries during what was considered a long stay for wine country but it was relaxing and :) gluttonous. Best scenery had to be Kuleto Estates (off the beaten path in the mountains); the best wine education was a toss up between Beringers and Cakebread; the best "art" display - Clos Pegase; and the best wine (taste) was Grgich. The worst - Sterling - too much of a "disneyland" tour, and the wines we tasted were nothing spectacular.

  • Liked — Breakfasts and location
  • Disliked — Gaining the weight from the wonderful breakfasts!

We just spent 3 days at this lovely B&B. Connie, the innkeeper, greeted us with a very friendly smile. She showed us around the property, and made us feel very welcome and relaxed. She was exceptionaly knowledgeable of the Napa Valley, which was a big plus for us. We stayed in the Garden Suite which had a king size bed and a large walk-in shower. Outside our entrance we had an area which seemed like it was our own private patio. A little further away was the swimming pool which was very welcoming after one of our days vising the Napa Valley. All three of our breakfasts were wonderful with ample servings for seconds. The Inn also provided us with a 5:00 pm wine and cheese hour. We ate dinner one night at the Calistoga Inn which is nearby, and definitely recommend the place during your visit. One of the neat things about this Inn is that you can mingle with the guests as much or as little as you want. Each suite has their own private entrance so you don't have to dodge anyone unless you want to. I definitely will return here if the occasion presents itself.
