The entire menu looked fantastic--making a choice was so difficult. Each of the four dishes we choose were delicious. The stand outs were the heirloom tomato salad and the rabbit roulade. Our server was young, bright, and bubbly. She made an excellent wine recommendation for me. The dining room was upbeat and full of energy. Very pricey, but we new that going in.

Supposedly the best in Calistoga, but our party disagrees. Our order was taken and food served in a very off-hand disinterested manner. The scallops, shrimp with roasted corn and fig salad were delicious but were small servings; they should have been larger if they were to satisfy for a small lunch. Once served, the wait staff disappeared. They apparently went off to get their lunch since they then showed up chewing away and in conversation. We tried to meet their eye for attention but that was studiously avoided. It was a very warm day and our water glasses were never refilled. Finally someone sauntered over after much signalling from our table. Not sure I'd return.

Matt & Sonjia Spector bring a European flair with local farm to table ingredients. Tucked into a store front in downtown Calistoga, this small restaurant is wonderful. The tasting menu with wine pairings ($80) is excellent. Be sure to ask questions on how the dishes are prepared and the characteristics of the wine selections. The servers are very knowledgeable and attentive. The Coconut Cream pie is super. One improvenemt that would be nice, spending 2 hours on a hard wooden chair get old real fast. Comfortable seating would be a great improvement.

After an afternoon of wine tasting, we cleaned up and got all ready for dinner and drinks. We got to the entrance and the receptionist in the lobby told us to go right in. The bus boy at the door, said they were way too busy and that there was no table for us. We thought that was weird, since there were a few empty tables there and the first gal said for us to go right in. So we asked what time we should come back for dinner. With all the great reviews, we really wanted to try it and we didn't mind having drinks somewhere else while we wait. He suggested that we return at 10pm, and we continued to ask what time they close, which was also 10pm. So we asked him "You're basically saying we can't get a table here tonight?" he said with a huge smile on his face, "that is correct." --Like I said RUDE! I don't know if the guy was racist, or just having a busy night and he didn't care for anyone else's business, but he could have just told us that right away....Luckily, there were many other options and the place we did pick had great service. Never care to return to that place!

Ate at the bar. Great place to eat while dining solo. Amazing wine, and drink selection. Small plates, so easy to their unusual food parings.
