While in Calistoga for a wedding we had the opportunity to stay at this lovely old historical hotel and it was delightful. From the moment we walked in the property and were greeted at the front desk until our departure it was a special time.

All the staff were extremely friendly, courteous and made you feel welcome and comfortable. We stayed in the Hans Fahden suite. (some of their rooms are named for local wineries and come with a bottle of wine from that winery) Loved the HUGE 2 person shower and the oversized clawfoot tub. I've had apartments smaller than this hotel room. There were 2 separate bath rooms, a sitting room and the bedroom. The bed was extremely comfy and when they delivered us breakfast in bed the next morning it started my day off just right.

Breakfast consisted of warm muffins, fresh fruit, a carafe of juice and a carafe of coffee. All were delicious and delivered exactly when we requested breakfast be delivered the night before.

When we returned from the wedding it was great to put on our swimsuits and go soak our tired dancing feet and bodies in the hot tub and take a dip in the heated pool.

Even though I only live approximately 30 miles away, I'll find another way to go back and stay at this lovely hotel.

A bit overpriced, and their mudbaths don't look like mud, looks just like water. But the location is right in downtown Calistoga. Recommend going to Solbar to eat. Yum!

i took my boyfriend to this hotel for his birthday. we had never been to calistoga before so i looked on the internet to find places to stay. mount view had a weekday special for an overnight stay and hydro mud bath so i booked it. when we got there (earlier than check in time), they were able to check us in AND upgraded us to a cottage at no cost. we didn't even request it! when we unlocked the door to the gate (leading us to our room), we were happily surprised with the HUGE jacuzzi tub and sitting area that was only for us! they even included a fizzy bath bomb and terry cloth robe for our use. it was a little rainy that day but we still took advantage of the tub! the rooms were clean and they served us a continental brakfast, delivered to our door. we also did the mud bath and my boyfriend got a massage. i loved this hotel! i will defintiely be going back. it is right in the heart of calistoga so it's walking distance to the shops, food and drinks! the hotel staff were really nice too!

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights this past week. The hotel is centrally located with off site parking and everying thing is within walking distance in downtown Calistoga.Nice outside pool and jacuzzi. Staff very friendly and professional. I'm sure there are more opulent places in town, but for the money(I think we paid 236/nt) it has all the amenities you'd need. It's a well maintained older hotel. Good experience all the way around.

The quality of the room (ours was room 113) was poor relative to the price paid (well over $200/night). The hotel is old and quaint, the staff was friendly and helpful, and it is located in the center of the town which makes it easy to walk to restaurants and shops. However, while the Mount View has done some minor touches to make rooms more comfortable such as replacing the bedding and installing flat screen televisions, the hotel interior needs a major overhaul to bring it up to modern standards. Some of the major issues: 1) Many wooden floorboards under the carpet creak - this is especially bothersome for late night bathroom runs. 2) The rooms are VERY small and not luxuriously appointed. We had a hard time finding room for 2 suitcases. 3) The bathroom was dated (tub with old-style shower curtain) with a free standing sink, very small vanity and little room for toiletries...not suitable for most women. 4) Noisy window unit heat/air conditioners with no thermostats to control temperature.... 5) Old style deadbolt locks with big metal keys - don't automatically lock on exit, and are easy to copy. 6) Very limited parking and no valet. At times we could not find any parking on property or anywhere nearby.

This property has so much potential if the owners would spend the money to upgrade it...

Room Tip: If possible, check the room before accepting it...we suspect that some rooms are much better than others.
